AntiBot Signup Protection



Description:

Have you ever noticed how some programmers have been witting spam bots that automatically sign up to your website. They signup with usernames like newz002344 and so on, this is an implementation of Captcha, that prevents bot and only humans from signing up.

All you have to do is unzip into the root of your xoops installation and CHMOD 775/777 the path /uploads/_captcha_tmp/

This required GD2 Library to be installed and utilises one of the better turning keys for registration.

It is more of a security patch! It has been tested on xoops 2.0.14 - 2.0.16, unsure if compatible with later versions.

** BUG FIXES **

• True Type Fonts Inc
• PHP Server Setting Patched - Some PHP Servers would have a problem with the location of the file, this has been patched to use XOOP_ROOT_PATH

I noticed if you aren't running XOOPs in the root of your webserver, you have to change the lines in hn_capthca.class.php

LINE 517:
if($onlyTheImage) return "n".'.$this->get_filename_url().'" '.$is[3].' alt="This is a captcha-picture. It is used to prevent mass-access by robots. (see: www.captcha.net)" title="">'."n";

LINE 518:
else return $this->public_key_input()."n".'.$this->get_filename_url().'" '.$is[3].' alt="This is a captcha-picture. It is used to prevent mass-access by robots. (see: www.captcha.net)" title="">'."n";


after src="' on each line.

This took me quite some time to figure out, glad to have it working in 2.0.18.1 now.

UPDATE: IT seems quite a few bots are still able to register while using this module. Any additional suggestions?

works right out of the box, good job and thanks.

BUT... I find it abit unclear, im writing wrong code several times. Is it possible somehow to make the captcha image easier to read or less cryptic or something ?

i have a question.
I need to remove some letters and numbers i see that its sometimes hard to see the diffrence on.
For ex: 0 and O

Any idea s if that is possible ? I really need it cause i think i loose some lazy members
