What is SOAP?

SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) is a way for a program running in one kind of operating system (such as Windows 2000) to communicate with a progam in the same or another kind of an operating system (such as Linux) by using the World Wide Web's Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)and its Extensible Markup Language (XML) as the mechanisms for information exchange. Since Web protocols are installed and available for use by all major operating system platforms, HTTP and XML provide an already at-hand solution to the problem of how programs running under different operating systems in a network can communicate with each other. SOAP specifies exactly how to encode an HTTP header and an XML file so that a program in one computer can call a program in another computer and pass it information. It also specifies how the called program can return a response.

What Can It Do for Me?

You can link with any soap-compliant system with complete w3c standard wsdl these will be completed in version 4.0 they are more just the abstract data layers of wsdl, they still need a dynamic mime type and other system written into them which the constructs are in place. You can transfer data between any sort tunnel through most of not all firewalls and poll your xoops platform from with another xoops or CMS or even things like .NET, Delphi and many other programming languages.

X-SOAP is the quick way for cloud computing, you can link your xoops platform with any other computer network with this module, plug-in have complete WSDL compilation code and allow for easy and dynamic deployment.


Whats New in this release?

The bugs in the Admin have been fixed, new language files have have been introduced as well as standardisation of the <?php call in the php files.

Designed specifically for coastal South Carolina, the new web service has one goal: match local nonprofit organizations with local consultants and services providers in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Jasper and Hampton counties who want their business. Consultants and service providers enroll for a small annual fee that's affordable even for sole practitioners and small businesses. Once enrolled, businesses build a detailed profile of the services they offer, and are listed in the categories that most closely match the services they provide.

Nonprofits register for free. Once registered, nonprofits can search the database and find local consultants and other service providers who are qualified. Nonprofits can also submit a Request for Proposals, which will be emailed directly to local consultants who can bid for their work.

“This service is “win/win” for our nonprofit partners and the Lowcountry businesses who want to do well by doing good work within their communities,” said Laura Deaton, founder of the new site, located at www.pluffmudconnect.com “In these eight counties alone, nonprofits generate more than $5.5 Billion in revenue.” Consultants and service providers win by having a low-cost way to easily tap into this sector and nonprofits win by using this free service to find and hire qualified local consultants and service providers to meet their needs.

According to Deaton, the service is also a “win” for the community because she’s added an extra twist designed to actually generate more business and serve nonprofits at the same time. A portion of the enrollment fees paid by businesses will be set aside to help registered 501(c)3 organizations who have small projects and who need funding.

Although the service officially launches on May 15th, the website is live and consultants, service providers, and nonprofit organizations are invited to come to the site beginning today to register.

Arabic XOOPS Support Site nominated for World Summit Award

Arabic XOOPS Support Site was nominated for the WSA – World Summit Award (more infos on www.wsis-award.org) to represent Libya in this global contest.

For those who don’t know what is WSA, it is a global contest to select best practices in e-Content and innovative ICT applications. The contest shows that new media keeps the promise and can contribute to a better world. It increases public awareness for ingenious content ideas and applications with a twist, thus assisting in marketing high-quality multimedia products.

Arabxoops.com team named their project "Arab XOOPS: Web Developers for Social Development" and they selected simple domain name for this contest www.xoops.ly which was offered for free by Libyanspider Company.
