Module/Theme authors please read! :o)

To make classifying & reognizing files easier for everyone, it's strongly suggested that module & theme authors adapt their way of naming files.

By looking at a file, one should know right away what kind of file it is (module, theme, block, hack), the version of xoops it works with, and the revision of the file itself.

m_xoops1.0-rc3_modulename-v1.0.zip
t_xoops1.0-rc3_themename-v1.0.zip
b_xoops1.0-rc3_blockname-v1.0.zip
h_xoops1.0-rc3_hackname-v1.0.zip

Is the suggested convention.

A file compatible with both RC2 & RC3 could be named something like:
t_xoops1.0-rc2+_themename-v1.0.zip

(Meaning its a theme compatible with rc2 or higher)

Compressed archives should also contain the needed directory structure to make installing things easier.

I.E. A module would be named like above, and inside the archive, the directory structure would be:

/modules/modulename/files

a theme on the other hand would look like:
/themes/themename/files

Like this, as soon as the person unzips the file, he knows exactly where the files should go.

---------------
I really hope all adapt this new naming convention. As it will make things much cleaner and easier for all.

Cheers & Thanks!

CVS Repository up

It's finally here! All of xoops has been tranfered to CVS.

You may grab the latest CVS files from anonymous CVS by using a program like WinCVS or TortoiseCVS (easy to use) and the following login information:

Server Type: pserver
User Name: anonymous
Password: n/a
Server: cvs.xoops.sourceforge.net
Path: /cvsroot/xoops

Or you may directly browse the CVS tree with your navigator by pointing your browser here.

If you're the impatient kind who wishes to apply bugfixes before the whole world, just keep an eye on the changelog files which can be found here: CHANGELOG. Hack at your own risk :o)

Cheers, n best wishes from the DEV Team!

New XOOPS forums open

XOOPS would like to announce the opening of "XOOPS Hacks" forums. These forums are being put up as a collaboration area for XOOPS hackers and developers to share code and ideas and open to all registered XOOPS.org users. Who knows, maybe some of the code will find it's way into the core with the dev team will be sinffing around.

Caveat: Please be advised that any code that you implement from these forums could break your site and we only recommend that experienced PHP/XOOPS hackers attempt these modifications.

When submitting hacks, please be as clear as possible about what the hack is for.

Thanks,
XOOPS Team

Have tons of little fixes and enhancements.

To upgrade (if you have installed it before) , only backup your old /modules/phpads directory, overwrite it with this package and replace config.ing.php with your old backuped config. Go to the admin, press the phpads logo and the upgrade is automatic.
