Spotlight module for xoops 2.0
Myself and Dawilby have modified Kuht.it's excellent Spotlight module for xoops 2.0.x. This module creates a block where a given news article is put in the spotlight: with an optional extra image the intro text is shown. Demo and download on the xoops module development team website: http://www.modules.xoops2.com.
This module has the following features:
- Create a block displaying the intro text of a given news article
- Add a custom image to the spotlighted article block
- Control look and feel through block template
- Display other recent news below spotlighted item
- Admin lenth ot titles through block admin
- Admin order and number of other recent news items displayed.

XOOPS in the PRESS
It seems xoops is getting more and more in the press. Time to publish it.
In the June number of the Dutch magazine <<<Pc Magazine>>> there was a test of CMS'es, xoops was choosen as the best of all. Because of that they added a whole article how to install and use xoops. You can see here the screens (of the how to):

Tiny Content: a visual user's guide
Hi, Xoops community:
Trying to do my part to keep this project ahead, I've written and produced a small guide for Tiny Content users. It's kind of a test to see if it solves some problems. If this turns out to be true, I'll certainly try to produce more guides. In fact, this is a concept test for the bigger theme creating guide I'm working on.

Headlines Module for DBCS Language Xoops Sites Hack Released
The original Xoops Headlines Module requires PHP's mb_string extension for encoding and decoding DBCS characters to and from utf8, but unfortunately PHP 4.xx version of mb_string extension does not support such conversion other than japanese encoding ! So no RSS news feeds are possible in Chinese Xoops sites.
This hack will make Headlines Module for big5 and gb2312 encoding Xoops sites working again!
If other DBCS language users are interested by this hack, please make your request on my website http://www.guanxiCRM.com, I will try to integrate your language in next releases.

You will probably notice from the homepage (http://wiki.xoops.org), however, that there are many gaps still remaining.
I encourage anyone who feels they can contribute to do so. Even a short page will be a tremendous help in this effort... or just an outline or skeleton of a document... or an addition to or clarification of a previously started document.
The ultimate goal is for the wiki documentation to become a complete guide to Xoops - from installation to administration to theme customization to module development.
Even if you do not feel you are very knowledgable about Xoops, you are probably wrong... you have probably learned many things that are not yet documented. Maybe you learned from personal experience installing or customizing your own site, or maybe you learned by reading/discussing something on the forums.
No contribution is too small! We need your help to complete this huge task!
