Bug #200 Squished

With the release of 2.0.9, XOOPS has reached yet another milestone: Bug #200 has been closed!

There are still quite a number of bugs listed, but not all are equally critical and not all are confirmed, but with 200 bugs closed, nobody can claim that XOOPS development has stagnated.

It may not be all that apparent to all how much work is going on behind the scenes, but Skalpa is hard at work on XOOPS 2.1 - a development version with a completely new architecture aimed at developers. This version will evolve into XOOPS 2.2, the first official and open version with the new architecture.

In the meantime, it is great to have someone like Onokazu, who can keep the focus on the current version so while some of us develop the system for tomorrow, the users of today are not forgotten and therefore a big thank you goes out from me to both Skalpa and Onokazu for the work, you two do for the benefit of the XOOPS community.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all

XOOPS 2.0.9 released

XOOPS Team is pleased to announce the release of XOOPS 2.0.9 final (not beta or RC). We have made a number of important fixes including patches for security bugs recently found in the newbb module. Therefore we encourage everyone to update to this version as soon as possible.

Full 2.0.9 package is available here

2.0.7.1-2.0.7.3 users, use the XOOPS 2.0.7.x to 2.0.9 patch to upgrade to the latest version. 2.0.7 users should use the XOOPS 2.0.7 to 2.0.9 patch. Sites running XOOPS older than 2.0.7 should first upgrade to 2.0.7 before applying the patch.

Patches are available here

Note to users using the newbb2.0 module

Do not upload the folders and files under /modules/newbb to your server. The files included in this package are not for the newbb 2.0. Please wait for the updated package to be released from the newbb2 project developers.

XOOPS Quality Assurance Team needs you!

XOOPS is expanding fast, with many modules being written by people with various degrees of experience with developing xoops modules. Some use clean and lean code, some have many features but are slower. XOOPS development is of course a learning process, and to help decrease the learning curve, the XOOPS Team has created the Quality Assurance Team.

The goal of this group of XOOPSers is to help the XOOPS community determine the general quality of the XOOPS modules, and by doing so, setting standards for XOOPS development. This can vary from code snippets, FAQ's, to smoketests and a XOOPS QA label for modules that have passed a series of QA tests.

But, as with everything in XOOPS.org, we can't do this without you! We need enthusiastic people who want to join the QA team and help it get started. We've tricked Dave_L into coordinating this effort, so please make his worries about making this worthwile for the XOOPS community go away and join the QA team by leaving a comment with your motivation and what you want to contribute to the QA team here!

PORTMAN ~ Server status monitor

Resized ImagePORTMAN- A small utility for Xoops to check and display server port status as follows:

HTTP port=80 Open/closed
FTP port=21 Open/closed
MySql port=3306 Open/closed
POP3 port=110 Open/closed
SMTP port=25 Open/closed
SSH port=22 Open/closed

OPERATION

The Server Status block will display icons for the above server port functions. (hover over icon to identify) Green UP arrows indicate ports open and online. Red DOWN arrors indicate port closed and offline. These change automatically when detected. If your site is down or you can't reach it, simply call http://yoursite.com/portman/ to display current status page outside of the site iframe. (that's why it's not a module)

The XOOPS Shop Project

Hi dear Xoopsers,

you all remember the first trial of an XOOPS Shop module ( XOSC Beta 0.1 from Michael Baecker and Beta 0.2 with my update to the osCommerce Version 2 MS2 )

Now i found back to this project and start it again with different goal:

Not to Port just the osCommerce Shop to XOOPS

No to make a templates based Shop system which is truly a 100% XOOPS Module but compatible to osCommerce based shops, for this i use now xt:commerce and Zen Cartâ„¢ as base.

In the past there was a lot critic about the "only" overseas orientate way this shops goes, so the XOOPS Shop Project will be developing 2 shops which are only different in the usergroups:

The xshop development has as a goal to make the world of the electronic commerce easily accessible for the medium-size trade companies within the European Union.

The zshop development has as a different goal, making the world of the electronic commerce easily accessible with world wide options .

The website is http://www.myxoopsshop.org

More information there, the start will be in January but if you want to keep an eye on the further developing you can see this here:

http://demozshop.xoops2.org

The demoURL will be changed later to the myxoopsshop URL.

First help to make the Site look more professional is welcome also for helping making nice Logos for each Shop and maybe a more professional Theme.

Current promise for joining the Team: Mithrandir and my Newbb 2.0 Teampartner phppp ( hope this was right )

Thanks to all in advance for your help and your attention.

Regards

Predator
