xoopsfactory

Resized ImageNot all of us will celebrate Easter and share these habits, though, but for those who celebrate it, I wish a happy Easter weekend!

And let me use this to say thanks for all feedback and comments.

Looking into my logfiles, xoopsfactory has become more popular than expected. Most visitors are xoopser, of course, but more and more come from searchengines with other keys. Starting Xoopsfactory in 2003 it was more a playground for xoops and css exercises, no real content though. Opening the XOOPS Site of the month contest in august last year it was the first real goal of xoopsfactory. I'm a theme dabbler not a content writer, of course.

Especially the blog of xoopsfactory is loved by google and should be a good place to introduce your sites and news about your sites. Checking my backlinks there are some of them and still growing. If you are looking for a backlink from PR0 to PR7 depending on Google’s mood, the weather or somewhat else (haha) you can use our link area or introduce your website in our weBlog which should be as good as that.

What I did learned in the past month was, that a website needs patience, patience, patience and continous work on it. It's a bit like a domestic animal, which wants to be feeded.

Please take the time to browse through the nominations of the "xoops site of the month contest" and submit a voting for your favourite site for this month.

Happy Easter weekend and happy xoopsing.
Michael

2TonGorilla in USA Today Tech_Space

There's a whole lotta boogie in the 2TonGorilla jungle following this blog from Angela Gunn in USA Today's Tech_Space. To wit:

"Great thanks to Ubersurfer for sending this one along: Two-Ton Gorilla, a shiny new portal for links to all the tech / geek info you crave. Some smart grouping and source choices here -- I like the good collection of support links, the software and hardware set's well chosen, and they've got the latest fun stuff from the likes of Snopes and w00t too.

Interestingly, their front-page headline-feed choices map almost perfectly to my early-morning reads: Computerworld (yes, well, I do work there after all, behooves me to check in etc.), Wired, Slashdot and The Register. They've also got a nice selection of additional RSS feeds at your disposal -- including, to my surprise and delight, one for this blog. I feel very much at home, and the fact that something about that gorilla cracks me up is a real plus. Good stuff."

We are so humbled. Stoked, too! Thanks, Angela.

Xoops Showcase-- ProcessTeam.org --a little help

Hello all,

As you may be aware, I have recently deployed a new Xoops site (ProcessTeam-- http://processteam.org) to demonstrate the power of Xoops in a professional engineering environment (software, electrical, mechanical, etc.) The intent of this site, from a Xoops perspective, is to demonstrate, how Xoops CMS & modules can be used in support of high levels of Software Engineering Institute (SEI) CMMI maturity, Six Sigma, ISO, etc. In the next week, I plan to announce the ProcessTeam site to 100’s of consultants and firms operating in the SEI CMMI, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, etc. field. Hopefully this exposure will be positive for all of us who have investments in Xoops.

In order to ensure that this effort is a success, I need help and guidance from the Xoops community, especially in the following areas:

==> If you have, or know of, additional Xoops modules that are appropriate for showcasing on this site, please PM or email me directly. If I am unable to install ‘your’ module on my site, for any reason, I will most certainly link to a demonstration of the module on your site.
==> I am looking for professional IT, Engineering, or Consulting web sites to link as partners to the ProcessTeam site. I also would love to get web links to key Xoops module designers and contributors who have modules appropriate to this effort (I already have a number of links to some of our module developers).
==> Based on popular demand, I have made a Jobs Postings/ Resumes module available. Included in this module are places for you to advertise for Xoops for-fee help or services. Please feel free to post your Jobs or Resume/CV on the site.

Please visit http://processteam.org, sign the Guestbook, and let me know what modules and features I am missing. Hopefully together we can create a positive, broad exposure exposing the power of Xoops to the professional engineering and quality communities!

Artwire Introduces Podcast, Combines C-Jay Content and Liaise for Contest Entries

Artwire - Student Art Community just introduced a new sweepstakes to select a finalist for the Grand Prize trip to the 2006 MTV Movie Awards. By combining C-Jay content to display the rules and a site ad with Liaise, Artwire is able accept entries all within the XOOPs framework. Artwire has also introduced a free podcast using XOOPs tools to manage access and instructions. The first installation is an art class entitled "How to Draw a Head."

Artwire uses XOOPs modules MyAlbum, C-Jay Content, XHLD, News and more to create a visually stimulating, content rich site to encourage young people to share their art in a comfortable way.
