Highlights of the last month:

• XOOPS Innovation Award - for people who create something very unique and innovative for XOOPS. This time the award goes to two extremely active and creative theme designers:  Gesine Max (sinnedesign) from Germany and Alexander Galochkin (algalochkin) from Russia. They are constantly providing the XOOPS community with new and innovative themes.
   
• XOOPSer of the Month Award:  is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month, we would like to recognize John Neill (Catzwolf) for his work on updating several XOOPS Modules, and his restarting the Modules Team and the Blue Move Initiative.
   
• Arabic XOOPS Support Site nominated for World Summit Award
   
• Government of Parana releases its new Website powered by XOOPS
   
• XOOPS goes exclusively PHP5
   
• The Blue Move - updating Xoops Classic Modules

The response was wonderful, and we truly appreciate your trust and support!  As promised, our 2008 Financial Report has been published, so you can see what is our financial situation, and what we are spending our money on.

This time the award goes to  Alain Breuer (Lord_Venom) from XOOPS France for his work on Mp Manager 2.7  and for the second time to Simon Roberts (Wishcraft), this time for his work on Multixoops and X-Invites 1.06
   
• XOOPSer of the Month Award:  is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month, we would like to recognize Crip Moorey (Sailjapan) for his help in moderation of XOOPS forums and support of XOOPS users.
   
• XOOPS 2.3.3rc has been released for testing.

We hope, everybody came back from Christmas, New Year's Eve and Chinese New Year's Eve vacations relaxed and energized!!!

This month, the XOOPS community recognized Michael Beck (Mamba), the Webmaster of www.xoops.org for his work on the Website and for keeping the WOX Newsletter coming.

• Work continues on XOOPS 2.3.3, and we hope to have it soon available for testing.

We have ended 2008 on a very exciting note - XOOPS China Won OSSContest Award, a very prestigious award of the Chinese software industry. This is definitely a great achievement for XOOPS China, and XOOPS in general, and all XOOPSers all over the world can be very proud of it!

This time the award goes to  Hong Kai Wu (tad) from XOOPS Taiwan for his work on various Tad-modules and his contributions to X School System !! Hong Kai Wu is also author of the "Easy Creation of Websites with XOOPS"
   
• XOOPSer of the Month Award:  is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month we would like to recognize: Susheng Yang (ezsky), the Webmaster of XOOPS China Website. It's the Webmasters of XOOPS local support sites who make the difference for all the people who don't speak English, and is sometimes their only entry to the wonderful world of XOOPS.
   
• XOOPS 2.3.2b - Security Release  - for a couple of critical fixes, including an XSS vulnerability
   
• Olédrion 2.0 - the e-Commerce module for Xoops by Instant Zero 
   
• French Community is working on updated catalog of XOOPS Modules

2008 was (and definitely still is - as we have 30 more days to go ), a very exciting year for many of us, and will have a deeper analysis next month- but in the meantime please email us your impressions from 2008, and maybe we'll include them in the next WOX in January

November was very exciting for XOOPS - in the first seven weeks this new release  2.3.1 has been already downloaded more than 17,000 times, confirming the strong position of XOOPS in the CMS market, and the loyalty of our community. And we all very much appreciate it!  

Security of XOOPS is always our #1 priority, and we'll always look after our users!!!  So when we've been made aware of couple of vulnerabilities, we've immediately addressed them in XOOPS 2.3.2a - Security Release.  In November our talented designers created again several nice new themes,  - we had a lot new ones. As always, we salute all of XOOPS developers who develop new modules and themes and share them with the XOOPS Community!!! Work continues on Translating XOOPS 2.3.x into as many languages as possible. As you can see from the list there, we still need help, so please volunteer!  Other highlights of the month:

• XOOPSer of the Month Award:  is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month we would like to recognize: Julio Napurí Carlos (JulioNC), the Webmaster of XOOPS Spanish Community Website. It's the Webmasters of XOOPS local support sites who make the difference for all the people who don't speak English, and is sometimes their only entry to the wonderful world of XOOPS.
   
•  XOOPS Projects creates "XOOPS Foundation" in the USA  - we need a legal entity to protect interests of XOOPS. Since it's non-profit, please donate to support XOOPS
   
• "Spread XOOPS Project" Initiative Restarted!  - it's time to stop being shy about XOOPS so it is no more the "Best Kept Secret"

October continued to be busy for the XOOPS community - with debugging and testing and then releasing of the XOOPS 2.3.1 !!!! The work continues on working out issues with modules, to make sure that they are compatible with 2.3.1.  October was also very good for themes - we had a lot new ones. As always, we salute all of XOOPS developers who develop new modules and themes and share them with the XOOPS Community!!!

• XOOPS 2.3.1 Final has been released. This is the most advanced XOOPS version yet, finally merging the the two branches 2.0.x and 2.2.x.
  
  With over 7,000 downloads of XOOPS 2.3.1 within the first three weeks, we have a very good start. The goal for us is to upgrade all XOOPS sites to 2.3.x, so we can focus on supporting only one version of XOOPS.
   
• Our Founder, Onokazu,  has been recognized as one of Most Valued People of Open Source CMS.   Thank you all who voted for him. While XOOPS didn't win this year, we are shooting for that title next year with our new version: XOOPS 3.0
   
• XOOPS Innovation Award - for people who create something very unique and innovative for XOOPS. This time the award goes to Julian Egelstaff (jegelstaff) for his new version of Formulize!
   
• XOOPSer of the Month Award:  is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month we would like to recognize: Anders Kristiansen (anderssk), the Webmaster of XOOPS Denmark and XOOPS Nordic. It's the Webmasters for XOOPS local support sites who make the difference for all the people who don't speak English, and their only entry to the wonderful world of XOOPS.

Month of September was a very busy month for us - with new XOOPS 2.3 being finally released!!!! The weeks ahead will be full of work for the XOOPS community, as we need test existing modules for compatibility with XOOPS 2.3.  It was also another great month for new modules and themes and more and more Websites around the world successfully utilizing XOOPS. We salute all of XOOPS developers who develop new modules and themes and share them with the XOOPS Community!!!

• XOOPS in Finals for Best PHP Open Source CMS!!!! Yes, XOOPS is on the roll - this is the second time this year that XOOPS got into finals of a major Open Source competition, the first being for "Best Open Source Project" on Source Forge Community Awards. The voting will close on Oct. 20th, and we need your vote, so please VOTE TODAY!!! Click here to vote for XOOPS
   
• We continue with the XOOPS Innovation Award - for people who create something very unique and innovative for XOOPS. This time the award goes to Christophe Capitaine (Burning) for his innovative Theme Gallery.
   
• The "XOOPSer of the Month" is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month we would like to recognize two community members: Gerard Vanderveken (Ghia) for his tireless support of XOOPS users, and Hossien Azizabadi (Voltan) for his support of the Persian community as well as XOOPS users here, and for his countless new cool themes .

Month of August was a very busy month for us - with new XOOPS 2.3 RC2 being released, and with work on the new Theme Gallery. But we also got great news with XOOPS being the finalist of Best PHP Open Source CMS. And we've got more modules and themes being released showing the creativity of the community, and we've seen more and more Websites around the world successfully utilizing XOOPS.

• XOOPS 2.3 release is coming soon (hopefully in September). This is the release that XOOPS users have been waiting for, as it will finally merge the two branches 2.0.x and 2.2.x! There are also tons of improvements, for example:
  - the Admin themes are now modular
  - new Extended DHTML editor as default
  - new modules: Extended User Profile and Private Messages
  
  Check out the latest Release Candidate 2.
  
  And please help us with testing and debugging, especially with the upgrade scripts, so we can make sure that there are no bugs in the final release.
  
  In the meantime, we are still focusing on Marketing campaign preparation for the XOOPS 2.3 Release via a Competition for XOOPS 2.3 Marketing Materials. Check out the idea for our new Video promo - help us in making it a great one!

Month of July was another successful month for XOOPS - we see more and more modules and themes being released showing the creativity of the community, and more and more Websites around the world utilizing XOOPS.
