ShoutBox v4.02 Available For Download

ShoutBox is an XOOPS module that provides an interactive block and pop-up window for visitors to post and view messages. CVD has picked up module development activities where previous developers left off. The major feature incorporated into this release is the addition of captcha as an anti-spam measure. The captcha class was copied from the XOOPS 2.3.0 core package and modified to meet the specific needs of ShoutBox module (including introduction of "Good Guest" mode). By copying the captcha class into the module we are hoping the module will function with XOOPS 2.0.x and XOOPS 2.2.x but it hasn't been tested with these versions yet. All development and testing has been performed with XOOPS 2.3.0 ONLY. We also added a guest avatar and re-designed the popup window using div tags and css so the dynamic resizing works with all browsers.

The captcha "Good Guest" mode was an idea generated by XOOPS users placing feature requests. When captcha is enabled a guest is only required to enter the confirmation code correctly for their first message post. A session variable is then set indicating the guest is now a "good guest" and the captcha entry requirement is then waived for the guest for the remainder of the guest's session.

Aphex's APH001 Theme

XOOPS Nordic almost complete

The official Nordic support sites of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland have now been merged into one site for better integration of support in forums, articles, etc. Even though our languages differ, users from our countries can understand each other with exception of Finnish.

The site is Multi language and also including English, using xlanguage. English can be used for e.g. module developers to request their module to be translated into Nordic languages. Some articles will also include English language, so others can use them as well.

All important content of the former Danish and Norwegian support sites, which are now closed for new registrations, will be transferred to the new site and once the transfer is complete, these sites will be redirected to point to XOOPS nordic.
The release of XOOPS 2.3.1 was an obvious opportunity to create a new site, with its content matching the “new” look of XOOPS, and also to get rid of old FAQ's, threads and articles, that don’t match version 2.3.x

The structure of the Forums and our Download sections are duplicates of XOOPS.ORG's structure and as soon as the FAQ-section is implemented it will contain a duplicate of XOOPS.ORG’s categories.

We welcome all Nordic XOOPS'ers to join us making the site the pride of XOOPS!

XOOPS 2.3.1 on Uniform Server 3.5

Kris did a great job by porting XOOPS 2.3.1 to Uniform Server 3.5.

The following is a self-contained single application mini server. Each server is fully portable and independent allowing you to run more than one server at the same time. They use Uniform Server 3.5-Apollo’s architecture with cut down versions of Apache 2.2.9, PHP 5.2.6 and MySQL 5.0.51b. Each server is pre-loaded with a single full version of an application however in order to reduce size only English is supported.

Although the mini-server may be put on-line, the real intention is to allow you to explore the application packages without the need to install on a server. That said the Wiki contains information how to install each application on Uniform Sever 3.5-Apollo.

Installation

There is no installation required each file is a self-extraction archive. Download the XOOPS Mini-server file, save to a folder of your choice; double clicking the file starts the extraction process. A folder is created with the same name as the file, inside this you will find two files server_start.bat and server_stop.bat these start and stop the servers respectively.

Running

Start the servers by double clicking on the file server_start.bat your browser if not already running will automatically start. An introduction page is displayed this includes the name and password required to access the application.

Stop the servers by double clicking on the file server_stop.bat this shutdowns both Apache and MySQL servers in addition removes the virtual drive.

Note: Each application has not been changed in anyway other than the name and password. This has been done on purpose allowing you to start at a point just after installation. Email facilities have been disabled however most applications allow this to be set-up via admin if required.
