We are pleased to release our first XOOPS Resource Book.

This book is a document to facilitate the exchange of information about XOOPS resources, particularly modules. It is not an offline repository (there is no module description), just a step to build it with your help.

HOW TO READ THIS BOOK

You need a pdf reader (Adobe acrobat reader 7 at least). You can easily navigate through the book by using bookmarks or search function.

Click on Bookmarks icon to display the summary

HOW TO HELP

Our aim is to propose an updated modules repository on www.xoops.org. The Module Team needs your help to :

find new modules, plugins, hacks, translations
We currently have listed more than 850 resources, found on various websites in various countries. Without you telling us about the download links for each resource, they would not be present in this book.

find latest versions
We would like to propose - whenever possible - the latest version of each modules and the current “release”. If you find a more recent version of a module or if you have improved a module, please send us the download link.

correct errors found in Xoops Resource Book
Some information listed below may be wrong: credits, version, release date, download link broken... If you detect an error, please add a sticky note and send us your correction(s)

test modules
For each module, we will have to provide a complete description. If you have any useful information, do not hesitate to send your description(s).

improve ww.xoops.org module repository organization
Any idea about categories? Please help us to make the repository more easy to use and to update: describe categories, add tags, provide free icons, etc.

To help, you can use Xoops.org forums or correct this book by yourself (Acrobat reader 7.0 min.).

Burning, there is only one word to describe your work: AWESOME!!!!

I don't even want to know how many hours did it take to compile all this info, and to present it in such a professional document!!!

For me personally you're the truest representation of the Open Source spirit! You're my hero!!!

To the XOOPS Community
:

Burning has asked for specific help going forward. As I've mentioned in this message, I truly hope that those people from the community who really care about XOOPS, will follow Burning's steps, and will encourage others to join and do the same!

I must be dreaming!!

Is it what I think it is? Or is it something even better?

Anyway, I sense that the force is very strong with Jedi Burning!

Ladies and gentleman, fasten your seat belts because XOOPS is ready to take off!

--Update: It's absolutely even better! I'm shocked, my Xoops world is now ten times bigger, at least! And I didn't even finished reading the entire PDF!

That's exactly what we need the help from the community!

If everybody writes a description for just 1-2 modules, we'll be done in no time.

Burning did SO MUCH - let's help him to finish this task!

"Great job....it very useful & there is so many useful module out there which not listed in xoops module download section."

Yes I have noticed that is so true. There are a number of modules in other languages and even in English that have never been mentioned/listed on the Xoops main website. Probably we can all come together and make some listing or ask the developers to please make a listing (they also get some marketing) at the Xoops site even if they are in different languages we can use Google translate or people may also translate them.

I can't wait to go through this book!

Thanks Mariane, very useful informations !

An updated version will be released next month. Do not hesitate to put your own comments :)

Todo list for version 0.2 :
• mirror download link (goes to Xoops sourceforge, I hope resources will be ready)
• description link / information when available
• a first selection of modules to put in Xoops.org repository

(I will be offline this week, sorry if I do not respond immediatly)

Can this be somehow organized so on some place we can take modules from lists and tag them so others knows that this modules are taken to review.

Everybody can help by pitching in! We cannot expect Burning to do all the work!

Please go to Wiki and add info about each module (see this thread)
