XOOPS Website Maintenance coming up

Posted by Mamba on 2010/3/7 13:20:00 (816 reads) | Posted on XOOPS
We'll do probably tonight (Sunday) a maintenance of our Website, as we encountered database corruption in some tables.

At this moment we cannot say how long it will take - it might be 1-2 days.

During that time, please use SourceForge

We should be done for now with the maintenance of the database.

If you see any abnormal behavior, please let us know and we'll look into it.

He he he ! Me too!

BTW - since I was working on the database, I also updated all tables to UTF-8, so now we should be able to have foreign characters saved properly, e.g.

Would be nice, if such information could be posted on the closed site for those, who couldn't read this information before (like me)!

For all those addicted to XOOPS it was a long time. Glad to see it online again.

But ... just a feeling: sometimes page rendering takes up to 20 seconds on DSL 6000.

Can you please write somewhere how to do this update of database to UTF-8. Some short tutorial
Posted: 2010/3/10 5:36 • Updated: 2010/3/10 5:36
Проверка кодировки. Yeah, it was worth waiting.

Yeah - some information about the DB change would be great.

Some sites still runs on 2.0.18-series or 2.3.x in ISO (LATIN1)

It's a problem to find a secure way to upgrade from 2.0.18 to 2.4/2.5 and change the database encoding at the same time

Just one thing I noticed, in my last post here my comment disappeared and the visit's counting went down. Nobody got hurt though! Just for the record.

Is anybody else experiencing this behavior on a consistent basis?

I have it only why my PC is overloaded, especially with a lot of different sites open in my browser, then XOOPS is being open in a new tab when I click on the logo. Otherwise, it always opens in the same window.

So try to reboot your PC, open you browser, and then see if it still opens in a new tab/window.

What browser are you using? Can you try a different browser?

Now it looks ok. It opens in it own window. I'm using mainly Google Chrome.
