In News there might be possible bug. At the submission form, right above the Extended Text entry window I have a line:

More bugs:

1) XoopsCare should not be shown in the Main Menu, but only in the Admin menu.

Right now it's there, and shows me the whole directory of /modules/xoopscare/

2) Same for Marquee, i.e. it shows in Main Menu, but at least doesn't show the directory content

@Mamba: what editor are using? tinyeditor or tinymce? I comes definitely from one of them. This line should be normally inside a javascript line and not printed to the screen. This lines normally shows which elements of a tag are allowed.

BTW - XOOPS Care 1.22 didn't have the box for "Order", i.e. it was designated as an Admin module only. The new version 1.44 has it, which makes it show up in the Main Menu. So it is XOOPS bug, or did you change your code?

The only module missing in this list is Oledrion. What is its compatibility status for 2.4.0?

Some simple solutions exist in XOOPS since a long time like putting the weight of a module to 0 to hide it from the XOOPS main menu.

That's where you put the weight for each module in the Modules Admin to order the modules how they show up.
If you put "0" there, the module won't show up in the Main Menu.
Putting "0" for XoopsCare is a workaround, but not the solution. XoopsCare is an Admin Modules, and therefore it should not have the "Order/Weight" box at all. The same for Marquee. So if it's bug in Core, we should fix it.

What I am confused is that 1.22 was working the way it should, and 1.44 is not anymore.

Hervet, everybody values you and your modules as the best in the XOOPS community and there are few sites where no Instant Zero modules are present.

But it seems you have been changing over the last year. I miss the drive and enthousiasme in your earlier posts. Now your answers are short (and on collision course) and you take every critising on your modules personally and act as a grumpy old man.
Come on, you are already long enough in the software business, for knowing that every comment could be used as an opportunity to improve and perfectionise things. It gets only scary, when there is no feedback at all, because then nobody cares anymore.

For conclusion, I thank you again for these wonderful modules and your effort for the community, and I hope you could refind some of the old Hervet again.

Yes, 3 years ago we decided to create a company called "Instant Zero", we were VERY enthousiast and wanted 4 things :
1/ A good Xoops, sorry that's not the case
As a modules developper I'm still in the position to do everything myself
and XOOPS is still using some good old completly obsolete technologies (ie nusoap)
Did I told you what modules developpers needed/wanted ?
Yes, so many times, in public forums, on mailing lists on Google groups etc etc etc
Xoops 3 ? Yes ... when ... where ? I heard many things but can't see anything.
2/ To continue our community modules, this will not be the case, the cause is here.
I'm am hassled for *stupid* things by people who are in charge of XOOPS whereas they should test what they are producing.
Mamba, you are crying like a baby for a stupid index file and a stupid link in a menu whereas you can solve both *problems* yourself !
Are they the most important problems of XOOPS ?

Correct, they were missing. Trabis fixed it in SVN yesterday. Thanks for the reporting.

I'll add it to the "Release Process check list" to check for all missing index.html files before release.

This will be always a topic for discussion with some people for it, and some against it, but I don't think that the community as whole "always" rejects that. I myself posted an announcement about your paid module just couple of days ago.

To be honest, I like and support your business model, which is to create free general modules for the community, and then create some specialized modules that you charge for.

If we would have hundreds of developers like you who can make a living from XOOPS, and at the same time "give back to the community", it would mean that XOOPS is a very successful CMS.

Well, I'm very sorry to see this here, Herve. There's not a site I've built that doesn't use at least one of your modules, and they've always been much appreciated by the community judging by the number of times I see them recommended to people asking which modules they should choose.

All I can say is that I'm a bit confused by the drubbing you give XOOPS above. Sure, there are bugs and stuff that's left from years gone-by. But it can't be that bad or you wouldn't be developing commercial modules for XOOPS either. Also, if you can make a successful business on the back of XOOPS then there must be enough users out there that think it's 'fit for purpose'...

Maybe this is an issue with some perceived slight, though I'm darned if I can see it.

No it was through one of your clients a passing comment got back to me.

Umm referring to your comment about XOOPS Sucking, I know not much has happened here for a number of years, that is structural changes and so on. DJ (Phppp) is not one for a progressive change, myself and trabis are, if there is any requirement you can see it will be adapted as the borg says - Resistance is futile!

I will be introducing a PDO (Procedural Database Objectivity) in 2.5.0 --> that means it will be the first cms that offer full database type support, this will be all I will be concentrating on in 2.5.0

nuSOAP was not eventually included, it was only for those without PHP SOAP not the use of consistence legacy packages..

Hi ive updated from new 1.63 to 1.64 to be able to put an individual image in each article, but both when editing to add one and when adding a new article with image it crash with this error

I've been reading bits and pieces of this thread with a semi-sinking feeling. Hence, I'm taking my time to ramble.

First and foremost, props to InstantZero for updating all his community modules for XOOPS 2.4! There are so many XOOPS modules that have been more or less abandoned and left broken, that it's a relief to see a developer still working on stuff for the platform.

However, these bug fix flamewars need to happen less and less often. There is no need for anyone to be offended on what may be "small bugs". This is not a who-has-less-bugs pissing contest. The InstantZero modules may have some bugs. The XOOPS CMS may have some bugs. There is no reason I can find to have tempers flare up over this.

The free modules that InstantZero has contributed (and hopefully will change his mind and continue to support) do much to give back to the community and to showcase his capabilities, particularly since he has commercial modules for sale. It's hardly a point worth fussing over. However I also feel compelled to address his points in order:

1: From what I have seen in the last couple of years, this elusive "good XOOPS" is something that seems to finally be on the way. What I see continues to excite me and is why I contribute to the project monthly.

2: Just because it's free doesn't mean it's free of feedback ... negative or positive. I wish it were all roses and candy, but it isn't. Everyone has to deal with it.

3: The commercial offerings look mighty sweet, and for what they do, I believe they are reasonably priced. (In interest of full disclosure, none of my sites have a need for these modules at this time.)

4: This is probably where the angst lies, and quite honestly, I can't say I blame him. Coding for free doesn't put a roof over one's head and certainly doesn't put food on the table. The warm sunny feeling that comes with writing something awesome only goes so far when the power bill comes in.

This is a part of the community mindset that HAS to change. Who am I to tell another developer what his motivation has to be? Most of what I have written and released has been something I needed to fill a specific need of mine. If any developer wants to leverage his skills to make a module for this or any CMS and chooses to charge a fee for it ... so be it. It should not matter if that motivation is self-interest, monetary interest, or community interest.

This seems to echo of the same garbage that preceeded the SmartFactory/ICMS split that happened not so long ago ... garbage we can certainly do without.

And for the rest of the community could we please stop fighting. XOOPS overall is a fantastic project and should not shrivel because of what i honestly consider minor issues.

Line 23 is the bold line.

All the code in file exception.class.php is this...

That is sad. newbbex is the ONLY forum module that works bug-free on all versions of xoops. It is simple, attractive, easily customized and I use it on most of my sites, because it kicks the other forum module's butts. I truly hope you reconsider.

Since Instant-Zero is closed, I've updated the download links to point to SourceForge, however, I am missing two modules:

iSearch 1.9
Newbbex 1.8

Can somebody point me where I could download them, so I can update the list here?

Eh .. instantzero Seems too Mad of XOOPS ..if its Me i would Keep the Site and Put the Paid Modules for free and Keep The Donation System ..

is instantzero Closed for Good or Just temporary . if for Good .. will wht the use of the paid Modules he spent times doing ..
