We are extremely happy to announce that Justin Erenkrantz, President of the Apache Software Foundation and member of Apache Foundation's Board of Directors, will become a member of the XOOPS Advisory Board. He is joining on the Board the Founder of XOOPS - Onokazu.

Justin is a very well known Open Source developer, who has contributed to the development of the Apache HTTP Server, Apache Portable Runtime, and flood. Along with Greg Stein, he wrote the Serf client library. He has also been known to dabble in Subversion development.

Justin is currently a PhD student at the University of California, Irvine in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences. His research interests are in software engineering - specifically REST-based software architectures. His forthcoming dissertation is entitled "Architectural Dissonance and Harmony in REST-based Applications".

Creating the XOOPS Advisory Board is only one of many steps that we're undertaking to make XOOPS a professionally run, top-notch, Open Source Content Management System.

We are very excited to have a person of Justin's caliber on our XOOPS Advisory Board, and we are looking forward to working with him and benefit from his vast experience in the Open Source area.

Welcome aboard, Justin. With no doubt, your experience will help us to build a stronger xoops community and framework, as well to check if we can benefit from some workarounds/adapatations in our licence.

Great,

Welcome Justin. Hope to have you as long as possible to help keep xoops evolving to the best CMS.

I suspect the Xoops guys are looking at similar Key people in the open source world to join the board. What about choosing people from different backgrounds, eg. security, marketing, database, etc. This is a great move for stronger Xoops community.

btesec, yes we're looking for a diverse board, so if you have any suggestions about any particular individuals, please send me a PM. We are also currently searching for a lawyer to become our legal counsel, as there are some unresolved legal issues, that we would like to take care of, as we're moving forward.

maxxy, right now we have only Onokazu and Justin. We'll be adding more in the future (and we're in talks with other people), but it's important for us that we don't rush, but instead have the right people on the Advisory Board.

ALL - I'm glad to see the excitement in the XOOPS Community about our recent changes. We were hoping that you would be! As you can see, there are some good things happening here, and we truly hope that you'll join us on this journey to the "new XOOPS" that we're working on!

And YES, we want it to be the "Summer of XOOPS", and then the "Year of XOOPS" But we need also the positive energy from the community! So please ask yourself a question: "What can I do for XOOPS today?" and then jump in into the right team and start making a positive difference!!!!

After all, "XOOPS is Powered by YOU".

You go through your team leader. The Advisory Board is to help the XOOPS Project Council guide the overall direction of XOOPS.
Its members, as you can imagine, are extremely busy people, and they've agreed to join under the condition that it won't create extra work for them. We need to respect it, and we've told them that we'll be asking for advise on our strategic direction probably only once a quarter, or so.

Its great to have you Justin and I have to say that its great to know that great xoopers returned back as well with big agendas.

It feels as if things are moving on positively and progressively.

I believe 2008 will be great.

Peace and Love to All
