Great !!!
Just what I was waiting for !!!

One question though: ZIP file name is
xoops2.2.x_mod_xcgal_2.0.3.zip, but this module seems to be suitable for 2.0.x as well, when I read the readme and release notes, isn't it?

Anyway: I'm gonna install and play!!

Thx for your work and greetz,

Ronaldus

Xcgal is running on Xoops 2.0.x AND 2.2.x.

It was mainly tested on 2.0.15 and 2.2.5RC2 with different server configs (PHP4 and PHP5, Mysql 4 + 5)

Thx McLeines!!

I checked and updated Dutch Language files.
Can I send them to you, or upload to some place?

Grtz,

Ronaldus

Thanks for this great module!

I wanted to change the rating images...and so I came up with these...

if you like these, all you have to do is upload them to your images folder, they are all named correctly.

Cheers,

Jeff

i wanna ask, what are advantages of using xcGallery compared to myalbum-p and RM+Soft Gallery 2.0? I'm using myalbum-p 2.9 for my xoops 2.2.3 site and RM+Soft Gallery 2.0 for my xoops 2.0.14. And I found out that RM+Soft Gallery 2.0 was very good in object-oriented and features but lack of support community. myalbum-p is great module with very updated version and I like it.

I tried install and play aroun d with xcGallry, and I found our that it is not very user-friendly. Sorry to say because user should create album first before they can upload image. This might be hard for beginner users.

Anybody want to share ideas?

I would like to clone this mod...can anyone provide instructions on how to do this, or, a cloned version of the latest mod?

Thanks,

Jeff

BTW, I have this module running here:

http://myottawa.ca/modules/xcgal/

I've customised the templates a bit, if you like them, I will post the code here.

I upgraded to the 2.0.3 and I'm using Xoops 2.0.15.

I have a problem batch uploading into the XcGal

After uploading several albums of photos I then uploaded them into XcGal. Everything went fine except none of the files uploaded into XcGal from one folder.

Do the file folder names and the album names have to be identical? I have permissioned the upload folder with 777 and still I cannot get one folder of files to upload into the respective album.

I tried the upload from the module where you have four (4) upload Browse boxes. I entered four file names and submitted. The mod uploaded only one file of the four.

I put the XcGal into Debug mode and got no results for debug when I tried batch upload. It just gave me the box on the right side and not the gif picture.

Psssst. I'm not sure this problem is associated with this release. I had some problems batch uploading when I used the previous version. Somehow I worked around the issue. I removed the upload folder and re-uploaded. I then made sure I chmod the folder as 777. I'm not quite sure what I did to get it to work. LOL

I have not used the browser version of multiple file upload, but have uploaded many successful folders of images via FTP. Simply upload a folder of images in 'USER ALBUMS' then go to BATCH UPLOAD in admin. The folder name should show. All you need to do is select the appropriate album for them to be imported into. I know this method works well. Give it a try.
Posted: 2006/11/10 15:36 • Updated: 2006/11/10 15:36
I've used both the frontside and admin side for batchuploads and it is not working for me.

I select the file from the MyUploadPics(my folder name), then I get a fill in of all the files with a small thumbnail on in the far right column. I then select the pics I want, then I select the album folder above for placement of the pics.

Voila! Everything appears to work, except there is no upload of pics into the album. I also get NO error messages. I do have a gif box showing inplace of the OK message I receive when everything is working.

I have checked the permissions and I CHMOD all the files in the upload folder of pics as well as all the pics to 777.

Procedurally I think I'm doing this right. I've got Coppermine on a couple other sites. I am using the standalone verions on those sites.

Again, when I try to upload more than one file even in the utility that allows only 4 files for upload the app only uploads the first file selected. It doesn't upload the additional 3 files.

The app will load one file at a time. Problem is the album has about 90 pictures. I'll be here until supper time. LOL

---------------

I created a New Album then I tried to do a batch upload from a folder that I had successfully uploaded from before. In fact, all the contents of that folder are in an existing album in the gallery.

I got the small issue from the front side and admin of batch upload.

The preferences are set for folders at 755 and files at 644

Is it possible to have modifications made to xcGallery by the developers for a fee?
Posted: 2006/11/12 0:39 • Updated: 2006/11/12 0:39
Great job on the module. One feature though that would be really slick to have on xcGallery, and thats available with Coppermine, is publishing images to a website with the XP publishing wizard in Windows Explorer.
http://jcr.chu.cam.ac.uk/photoalbum/xp_publish

Its a lifesaver when you want to upload tonnes of digital photos and you dont want to have to manually resize them first or upload them to a folder beforehand - you can choose to have them no more than say 800x600 before being transferred to an album in the website.

There also is another nice hack for Coppermine where you can rotate multiple photos at once from the "Edit Pics" screen. I probably will tackle adding the hack to xcGallery in the next few months and will post the hack on the forum - its quite straightforward to add from what I recall from implementing it on Coppermine.

I wonder how difficult it would be to create this registry file for xcGallery? Perhaps it wouldnt need to much of a hack if Coppermine already has it and xcGallery is derived from that?

I previously put up several postings about issues with batch uploads. I still have these problems.

I tryed to upgrade and it is all messed up now :(
I use XOOPS 2.2.4 and I upgraded as told in the upgrade.txt

The result was on admin page:

============================

Nothing more. The same thing appears on every page of the admin on my site.
And now my gallery with over 100 pics is screwed :(
Also I think the .css is messing with my site too.

Here's a link:

http://wow.mielus.ro/modules/xcgal/

What can I do? :(

Later edit: I think this can be from some files having an ENTER after the ?> php closing tag ... I know xoops had this issue in the past ... I modified every file in module directoy and will see how it acts now :)

Later edit: YES! This was the problem! I suggest that you modify all .php files in the package and reupload so noone has this problem anymore ;)

Great update!
all is working fine for me!
still I wander why in the index page of the module I can't have the albumlist showed as it happen for the cat list.
It's an old bug from past version but not present in normal coppermine where in the index you have catlist and alblist in two different tables...

any trick? It looks like the index template should show this album list but it don't happen..

@domineaux
if you go in the admin resum probably You'll see that there are some photos waiting for approval, you need to approve them.. and if you dont want to approve each time you have to set permission in the admin menu of xcgal

Hi,
Thanks for this great module!
But I'm getting an error when try viewing images in full size.

Not Found
The requested URL
/displayimage.php was not found on this server.

Additionallya 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request

And when trying slideshow I'm getting following error:

Warning
chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2in /home/changed/public_html/main/loadpage.php on line 126

You can view the site here:
http://main.polylogia.com/xcgal+index.htm
Also some images with space in the name and names like imagename~2.jpg are not displayed properly.

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks.

I installed xcGallery 2.0.3 together with Xoops 2.0.15, I used to like Coppermine before. Installation went fine without a problem. But it seems the link from the update buttons in the admin modules is wrong. For instance when I press update/create category the button tries to call catmgr.php in the root of my site, while it should call it from root/modules/xcgal/admin. Problem only appears in admin modules. The other functionality seems to be fine. Please help! Thnx

update:
Problem also appears to be on other places. Slideshow, next and previous buttons in album view refer to php file in root while it should call php file like displayimage.php in root/modules/xcgal. Some other buttons like 'Return to the thumbnail page' call the php file in the correct path root/modules/xcgal.

fixed it!
for my site I had to correct 2 PHP issues to get xcGallery working, found some strange behaviour for the $PHP_SELF variable. For further info read http://nl3.php.net/reserved.variables or the post from daeken21 at http://www.phpfreaks.com/phpref/34.php

1st issue
reason: somehow $PHP_SELF contains only filename instead of path+filename when $PHP_SELF is declared as global variable in a function.
fix: removed $PHP_SELF from lines that start with global in the following files:
batchupload.php
displayimage.php
modifyalb.php
admin/catmgr.php
admin/searchnew.php
admin/usermgr.php

2nd issue
reason: somehow $PHP_SELF contains only filename instead of path+filename when $PHP_SELF is used in a form method, even after fixing the 1st issue.
fix: in lines where $PHP_SELF is used in a form method, replace $PHP_SELF with {$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']}, this must always be between {}, in following files:
batchupload.php (line 399)
admin/catmgr.ph (line 269 + 287)
admin/ecardmgr.php (line 93)
admin/groupmgr.php (line 206)
admin/searchnew.php (line 409)
admin/usermgr.php (line 150)

Now the real work can start with a great module

Hi domineaux,

a little trick that I discovered, in Batchupload when you click on Insert Photos and have a blank page....here is the trick; wait for about 10sec and hit refresh. Hope it works for you.

Hi jensclas,

Use xcgal and you can use xcgal2 if you want 2 albums in your site.

I have hacked xcGallery to support .flv movies too.
I want to ask if in next release is planed Automatic video thumbnail creation.
Here is interesting post on coppermine gallery for creating Automatic video thumbnail with ffmpeg.

thanks for the update. the breadcrumbs are a wonderful and necessary addition.

it works fine for me, except i guess i misunderstood the batchuploads on the frontside feature. i was thinking that this would enable end users to batch upload via the web rather than FTP, but I see that it is basically the admin batchupload interface put onto the frontend website.

this is fine for admin, but the if statment in the template simply looks for permission to upload and since my site allows anonymous users as well as registered users to upload, everyone can see the link. Only admin has ability to upload via FTP, so showing the batchupload pages to anyone with web upload priviledges but not FTP priviledges ends up being confusing and potentially dangerous.

I commented out that link so that users wouldn't see it.

otherwise, great job! and thanks!

I tried to batch upload pictures and was having problems. I see that many here also are having problems with batch in this version. I had selected in preferences only to show new files. The result is that no files would show in the folder. once I changed the preference to show all files in batch folders, then the new and old images showed up with the new automatically selected and then I could batch.

Hey Domineaux,

Quote:
I tried the upload from the module where you have four (4) upload Browse boxes. I entered four file names and submitted. The mod uploaded only one file of the four.

I had the same problem. Have changed the following files to get it to work (have probably broken other things as a result - but seems to work fine for the moment):

/xcgal/db_input.php
approx line 356

elseif ($PIC_NEED_APPROVAL) {

//Commented out the following line and replaced it with the one underneath as
                    //UploadmoreFiles wasnt uploading more than 1 file.... also changed picmgmt.inc.php: function add_picture last two lines
                    //redirect_header('index.php',2,_MD_DB_UPLOAD_SUCC);

$header_location = ( @preg_match('/Microsoft|WebSTAR|Xitami/'getenv('SERVER_SOFTWARE')) ) ? 'Refresh: 0; URL=' 'Location: ';

2nd file to change is
/xcgal/include/picmgmt.inc.php
approx line 147

//Added the following....as UploadmoreFiles wasnt uploading more than 1 file

if ($approved == 'NO'$picinID$xoopsDB->getInsertId();
    if ((
$approved == 'NO') && is_object($xoopsUser)) $xoopsUser->incrementPost();

If anyone find a better/cleaner solution - please post!

It would be good to see some new features, such as the display effect used in yogurt for displaying pictures.

Be good to see it keep working instead of just droping errors left right and center.

Where can I get this from? When I try to log in to dev.xoops.org I get an error that I don't have permissions. Is there any other place to download this from? On the main Xoops site there is only RC 1.1, but I want to try out this later version. If anyone has a link they can send me for it I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

hello,

Is there any plan to update this mod. I really like it since it allows users to creat their own albums/categories instead of me creating these, my user are free to create their own which is an advantage over the other gallery mods for xoops. I would be good to see watermark feature implemented also. Any word here or can soneone pick this up for dev.
Posted: 2008/6/10 18:45 • Updated: 2008/6/10 18:45
There is a watermark feature; check in Preferences.

I'm keen to pick this module up but want to contact the original author first.

I'd be interested to know what features or additions might be made as it's already a well-developed module. Top of my list is "Notifications" but there must be other stuff too.
Posted: 2008/6/12 5:16 • Updated: 2008/6/12 5:16
Hello JAVesey,

Thanks for the quick reply. I certainly think it would be good to carry out a security analysis for the mod, this is as on any other mod my top concern. Maybe we can also look at what other feature are provided in other mods then implement it for this mod. Certainly If the original developer agrees you can pick or work along with him. I'll do my best to gather some ideas also.
