Almost 650 reads, 350 downloads, 20 replies and
one $5 donation... you can do better than that, XOOPS Community!
If we had decided to charge $5 per download, we could have paid off the computer nearly 2x over by now! Don't think your $5 wont make a difference - it could make the difference in whether this utility evolves as Dreamweaver and XOOPS both evolve, or whether this incredibly useful utility will remain free for all to download - or not.
To the one person who already donated, our sincerest thanks. To the rest of you, dig deep and
donate $5!
I am very glad you all seem to find this to be the great tool I knew it to be.
To address a few specifics:
Quote:
For those people that don't have Dreamweaver (like myself) would it be possible to say a bit more about what the tool does?
Is it possible for designers not familiar with XOOPS to use this tool, or is it aimed at XOOPS coders who also use Dreamweaver?
Any extra info would be great - and it would also encourage more people to donate :)
This tool is useless without Dreamweaver. We have 2 versions available, each is Dreamweaver-version specific. This latest release is
only for use with Dreamweaver MX 2004, as it takes advantage of the newest Dreamweaver functionality to provide a much more extensive interface than the version we have available for use with Dreamweaver MX.
What does it do?
MyXoopsExtensions allow you to click variables into place with a touch of a button, simplifying the process of creating and manipulating XOOPS themes and templates. Easily wrap content in various IF Statements, insert a welcome message or a horizontal menu just by placing your cursor and clicking the button. All this and more in a colorful XOOPS Objects toolbar that rests atop the Dreamweaver HTML editor, altogether an easily navigable interface.
I believe that any intelligent newbie would be able to find a use for this utility, but the people who will benefit most from this release are those who create lots of XOOPS themes, and thereby are the more experienced XOOPS theme designers. This is a time saver especially for the XOOPS adept but a great tool for anyone trying to create or modify their own XOOPS theme - and I believe it will speed the XOOPS learning curve as all the variables are laid out for anyone to experiment with at their leisure.
If that doesnt clarify things, check out the MyXoopsExtensions FAQ
here or view a screenshot
here.

I would love to see a new XOOPS CSS Theme as well with all the common CSS tags used by most modules.
Also, it would be nice to have an insert XOOPS image under Insert menu, with Smarty Tags and all.
and what about the blocks? theres a few ways to do it so not sure which way to go, but have you thought about creating Block Libraries or something like that?
Is there any other hidden gems you can point out?
Can you elaborate on what you mean by block libraries?
I suppose I should have added a default XOOPS stylesheet template along with the default XOOPS theme template - will try to add it in the next release. Along with, perhaps... a few commonly used XOOPS theme layouts to manipulate, CSS and Table variations? Is that what you mean? Good ideas, definitely.
If anyone else has any ideas that you think should be incorporated into this extension, please post them here or on the MyXoops Forums.
While you are in the downloads section, check out our cool Flash integrated XOOPS themes! A dynamic Flash menu module is next on our agenda, look forward to many more great XOOPS things for your XOOPS, from MyXoops!
Thank you all for the kind words, and in advance for forthcoming outpouring of support! lol
