XOOPS 2.0.10 Release Candidate 2

Posted by Mithrandir on 2005/4/12 13:38:55 (7506 reads) | Posted on XOOPS
The XOOPS Core Development Team is happy to announce the release of XOOPS 2.0.10 RC2

We hope to bring you a 2.0.10 version without new bugs, but before we release the stable 2.0.10 we want to be sure.

Therefore we hope that this release can be tested thoroughly and no new bugs found.

NOTE: This is a full release ONLY - it is meant for testing and there ARE modules in this package. This means that if you have upgraded your News or Newbb modules to versions higher than 1.1 and 1.0, respectively, you should be VERY careful not to overwrite these modules' files when uploading. And although we want to test this both from fresh installations and upgrade installations, we do NOT encourage the use of this release candidate on production sites. You've been warned!

New tests

- "memory" mistake has disapeared
- install warning have disapeared
- some errors when I try to post a new thread in forum

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: newbb_notify_iteminfo() in c:\program files\easyphp1-8\www\test\modules\newbb\post.php on line 193
Warning [PHP]: main(c:/program files/easyphp1-8/www/test\lmodules/newbb/include/notification.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in file c:\program files\easyphp1-8\www\test\modules\newbb\post.php line 192
Warning [PHP]: main(): Failed opening 'c:/program files/easyphp1-8/www/test/modules/newbb/include/notification.inc.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:\PROGRA~1\EASYPH~1\\php\pear\') in file c:\program files\easyphp1-8\www\test\modules\newbb\post.php line 192

you've changed line 192, it differs from 2.0.10 RC

if more people could help in debugging, could be great.
I've not already tested upgrade feature, and upgrade with preexistent data

Hello,

is there still a problem with the gzip compression ?

Bye,
Hervé

Will we have a patch to update from previous release candidate?

I think the answer is yes, or something will be done it is just to know because i'm too curious...:)

Thanks for the work

no, there still is.
But I'm not sure this feature has already worked on XOOPS (based on forum threads)
Perhaps could you use xoops-tips's tip, based on an .htaccess file.

I can't wait 'til you all say it's stable! Its exciting to see the progress being made. Thank you all for your time and work.

EDITED: Oh, as an edit, one other thing: is gzip the same as these two statements?

and where is the patch for the users with 2.0.10 RC1 (aka Beta 3 - this is displayed in the XOOPS version) ?

@bout gzip,

test your header @ here

this tip could be usefull
http://xoops-tips.com/news-article.storyid-85.htm

On my site, gzip is activated, but I've not tested if it has a real impact on performances.

This is not version 2.1.0 so I have not touched gzip. It may have worked with 2.0.9.3, but since gzip was only ever enabled in the administration area, I hardly see this a priority. I will - as I have said - look at it in 2.1.0

There is no patch from 2.0.10 RC, so you'll have to overwrite all the files with the new package. The stable release will of course have a patch upgrade.

Yes, I have changed something in newbb, but I thought that would be a better way of including that notification function that would work better... apparently I was wrong.

Anything else apart from this newbb error?

Thanks for your answer so i will wait for the patch from previous release candidate to stable version.

Marco, could you try adding a forward slash at the beginning of the include_once statement at line 192?

include_once XOOPS_ROOT_PATH.'/modules/newbb/include/notification.inc.php';

I seemed to forget that forward slash.

Administration is still difficult to operate... I've always been hoping someday, Xooops comes with simple but strong administration, but it seems it's not yet included within the new version.

Front-end is getting better each day, but the back-end. I hope official XOOPS release will include dynamic administration soon.

openup: please read the announcements made recently: XOOPS 2.1 (not 2.0.10) will have themable administration interfaces, the 2.0.10 release is a bugfix and security release.

Please elaborate. Blank page? turn on PHP Debug. What exactly have you done, and what exactly is the result?

I currently have a problem that custom blocks show only the title but not the content.

Anybody else had this problem?
Published: 2005/4/15 15:06 • Updated: 2005/4/15 15:06
@ Watdehek
no, I've not this problem

@mith
could you tell us which part has been heavily modified or been impacted by your changes, so that we can test further in the right direction ?

@watdehek: Update the system module through module administration

@MarcoFr: most parts have been updated with the Token system... so close to all parts of the core, inserting, updating or deleting content in the database are affected.
Published: 2005/4/15 16:03 • Updated: 2005/4/15 16:03
Hi,

As WatdeHek noted the custom blocks don't show up anymore. The titles are shown on the site but not the content.
The content for these blocks is still in the database though.
The admin module has been updated and the content for the blocks is displayed in the admin -> blocks section but it doesn't show up on the front-end of the site.

Any ideas anyone ??

Greetz Highlander

p.s. this seems to affect only custom blocks; all else seems to work a treat !

-- edit -- just noticed that adding new custom blocks gives the same issues. Header appaers but no content inside.. Any ideas anyone ?

Update !

php-debug and mysql debug can't find anything worng. Smarty debug gives me the following.
{$xoops_rblocks
Array (
5)
=> Array (2)

title => Administratie
  content
=> empty
=> Array (2)

title => Kalender
  content
=> empty
=> Array (2)

title => Gebruikersmenu
  content
=> <table cellspacing="0">rn <tr>rn ...
=> Array (2)

title => Wacht op goedkeuring
  content
=> <ul>rn <a href="http://www.doberma...
4 => Array (2)
  title => Willekeurig Citaat
  content => <div class="
blockContent"><em>Als je ...

Where it says content => empty are custom bloks which should not be empty.
Any one know how XOOPS determines content to be empty or not ?

greetings (a frustraded) Highlander

I can't reproduce this.

Earlier today, I upgraded an e-xoops website to use XOOPS 2.0.10RC2 - the custom blocks showed up fine.

Are you _sure_ you have updated the System Admin module? There was an error in the previous betas where the custom blocks would not show the content, but that has been fixed by adding a new template that must be compiled during System Admin module installation/update.
Published: 2005/4/17 15:34 • Updated: 2005/4/17 15:34
Fixed!

Copied RC2 again and rebuild the modules.

This is the error when i turned on the php debug and hide the main menu block:

Please direct your enquiry to the WF team as this is, as I see it, a problem with the WF-Links module.
