xyp4all - Keeping Track of People!

Posted by gniknalu on 2005/3/10 17:13:52 (4814 reads) | Posted on Modules
With the release of version 1.57 of xyp4all, XOOPS finally has a flexible way to keep track of contacts. They can be organized into different regions, categories or even relationships. You can add different roles - administrative, functional or whatever you choose. Each can have a picture, a description and you can even add comments. And the list continues.

Another alternative use is for a family tree or keeping track of your genealogy!

Enjoy!

Could this module be use for a system to create relationships between different module's content?

Interesting Idea . . . . wouldn't know how to execute it - can you give more details 'cause I can't visualize it?

Is this the best way to list members of various teams, such as members of the swim team dividing into Varsity and Junior Varsity?

Greetings - PHP5, WinXP

I got the following item when installing:

Warning [Xoops]: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "db:xyp_listingfull.html" in file D:\apache2triad\htdocs\class\smarty\Smarty.class.php line 1084

Hope That Helps.

Hello
Is there anyway to sort the order by roles then displaying the items?
Fx the Prestident first and then the vice President and so on.

Sort by roles - great idea. . . . BUT that would make another problem - how would you know who goes first? For example ThePrez is #1. VicePrez is #2. PrimeMin is #3. I delete VicePrez and create SuperPrez (#4). So if I go in order of their number - SuperPrez, which should be the first, would be the last. So I'd need some other 'order' OR . . . a way to reorder them. . . . I'll give it some thought. Thanks,

New Version released today. I missed a BIG BIG B I G IE Error (I use firefox and neglected to test the last change in IE). The new version will make it look correct in IE.

Thanks,

I think that weight value like in "Blocks Administration" would solve the problem. But I dont know yet if this shoud be in the place You setup the person or ther You setup the rols, or maybe a combination.

I think Your idea of this module is great!

Thanks

One small glitch detected
- in user's info all his xyp4all add-ons have not item name as title, but item's category

This is a great module and ALMOST perfect for what I need...is there any way to allow photo uploads in the original submission? IE, so the registered users can upload a photo with the contact name? That way it's all automated (from my standpoint).

Thanks.

Good idea. For security reasons, I've been using with vsftpd to get the images posted. Maybe this can be a future addition.

Thanks!

Perhaps a way of selecting a parent from the list of contacts (top of the heap would have no parent)?

I really like this module. It installed without a hitch.

I do have a question or maybe a suggestion for a future release.

How could I add a field? What I have is a church site where we need all members linked to a common head of household.

I may have listings for June Smith, Jack Smith and Jane Smith, but I need to also show that these folks are the family of John Smith.

I went into the Language folder and made a small modification to change the "Country" display as I need, but the field still shows 'US'.

If I could simply remove the reference to 'US' (all of our members are in the US anyway) and maybe move it to the top, this module would be perfect for me.

Thanks!

[EDIT]With a little imagination, I have figured out a different way to enter the information which mostly negates the need for doing heavy modifications. I do have one other question though: The 'Popular' and 'Top Rated' pages - they have a header title which says "Corporate Directory". I found one instance for that in the files and changed it, but the page still says "Corporate Directory". What am I missing or can I simply turn off these pages? I don't need to have a rating capability or even comments. Thanks![/EDIT]

Great module gniknalu

It would be fantastic if we could sort by roles (as previously discussed). Having the administrator 'weight' the roles sounds like a great idea to me.

Thanks again...

if you modify a contact there is no wysiwig editor in the modify screen (i mean the XOOPS editor here with toolbar icons) so that only users who can write HTML can put any hypertext there.

It would also be great if there was an easier way to add pictures to the main contact rather than have to upload them first via FTP to the specified folder and then choose the graphic from the admin interface. For users creating/editting their own records this is a real pain.

Apart from that, this module has great potential - am using as a corporate address book with the VIP field as job role.

I don't suppose this could be hacked to include members in the directory listing?
