How'd you hack the poll module so we can't see the results?

*has voted*

This is a harsh vote. But I have kept my way and voted for people I nominated.

Anyway, thanks to those who put my name forward.

It is really harsh to vote for only 1 person ! Xoops Community has so many amazing people !!!!!

As Solo said it, I would also like to thank the people who nomminated me

Cheers !

'What the...' was my first reaction when I saw my name listed here. Also the first time somebody (except then Ackbarr) call's me a module developer, let stand I would win

Oh, that must be a question of parity. There couldn't have a seat for a wallon without a flemish.

Belgian story I guess...

As Xoops France Webmaster I regret that Herve has not been nominated... I would like to congratulate all the guys that are now in the final contest, specially those from the french team. Now that I have no more enough time to be more efficient and present on Xoops France, Christian, Philou, Solo71, Herve... and others, are the true motors of our french support site that I created 3 years ago. I am very proud to see that the international Xoops Community recognize their daily amazing work for our favorite CMS. Good luck Guys (I voted for you naturally !!! )

Surely Herve's name must have been mentioned. I think it might be mispelled. Look under code contributors. I believe the correct spelling should be Herve and not Herko. What has Herko done for code? Just change the ko to ve.

I agree that Herve has done so much over this last year for Xoops so.....

First, I would like to thank the person/people who put my name forward for nomination but I feel that I do not deserve to be beside all the other developers as I have really done nothing last year.

I would like to hand over my nomination to Herve and his girlfriend who deserve it better than I =)

If so, he is one of many dedicate xoopsers, who are not on this list. I can think of many others who have added, not perhaps in quantity, but in quality of their contribution.

The whole of XOOPS is a team effort ... even the smallest contribution may be significant to someone, and that is valuable.

I personally admire some of the recent members of this community, who came in completely new to xoops. But now they are adding forum posts to help others. They have no chance of winning a prize here, but their giving spirit is just as valuable as any one of those nominated here.

They are the future of xoops: in a year or two, they will be carrying the vision forward. We may not recognise you now ... but we will on day.

BTW Catzwolf, while I admire your magnaminous comment, and despite some troubled waters, no-one can forget the vast contributions you have made to the xoops project!

Thanks idd.

Ik was really surprised to see my name on the list (like most of the nominees I guess), especially since I haven't been working on themes for a while now, because I have been ill for almost the whole of 2004, so thanks to the people who seem te remember;). Of course I have been doing a little work on themes, but not by far as much as I would have liked. I hope 2005 can be a better year in that matter.

greetz and happy xoopsing.

By the way, I agree with Valker (previous post).

hum,rrrrrrrrh,

Yes, sad to note that we miss Hervé (hervet), who is a great module developer and a xoops's forum contributor....
I know, we should have send his name in nomination form. Due to hard work, i miss the news at xoops.org
Anyway to change this ????

Since this is the very first Xoops Award, I think Ono - the person who started this project three years ago should get a special award that's totally separate from this one. And hey, I used to be a pretty good gadfly of the dev team back in the day. :)
Posted: 2005/1/29 10:35 • Updated: 2005/1/29 10:38
Same thanks come from me as others, I didn't expect to be on the list since I have been inactive since the end of summer.

I vote for the entire community, if it wern't for you, the users, we all wouldn't be here!

And I also would like to thank whomever nominated me for Best Community Supporter. It is quite an unexpected honor (since I only joined the community this past November.)

Xoops is by far the best community that I have ever been a part of.

Catz, I nominated you for module developer as I liked your modules, and the fact that so many of them have been cloned etc + parts from your modules seem to be used a lot in other modules also.. It was your modules I 1st used and began modifying for my needs initially when i 1st came to xoops, your code was easyish to follow (well i'm not a coder, but I can see some logic and it was sometimes quite easy to follow) I learnt a lot more than i knew just from using and editing your modules, which is why i nominated you..

if you feel you don't want the nomination I will understand and would gladly ask Herko if he could change my nomination to Herve as I know his contributions have been many (i thought also someone would have nominated him at least) that's if the rest of the nominees agree to it being changed..
Posted: 2005/1/29 13:00 • Updated: 2005/1/29 13:00
I totally agree. And want to add to this comment that both for Edito and multiMenu (which are the modules I am nominated for), the core basis has been coded by Herve.

That's the reason why, if Hervé is not added to the poll, I would like his name to be linked to my (probably accidental ) nomination as "best module developper".

So, please, could some admin add Hervé to my nomination ?

Posted: 2005/1/29 14:56 • Updated: 2005/1/29 14:56
Due to an unforseen workload, I never had a chance to submit my nominations. I know it is too late now to submit them, but there is one that I too wish would have made it into the lists.... Herve!

It would be a tremendous shame for Herve to not be recognized for his work.

Just my 2 cents.
Posted: 2005/1/29 15:09 • Updated: 2005/1/29 15:09
Oh, stop crying people. Herve is not on the list. So he can't be the best module developer. You should nominate him whan it was time. Not now ... now is too late.

I do not agree. I thin Herve will be very proud when he will read these posts. So he is nominated in our hearts ...

Herko is tha man!!!
Posted: 2005/1/29 15:12 • Updated: 2005/1/29 15:13
bit Harsh there Gambero considering you only joined xoops this year.

Herko maybe tha man to you, there's no doubt Herko deserves a lot of respect on this site but we are talking about Hervet being nominated as a module developer.. Herko isn't a module developer so him being the man is irrelevant on this subject :)

Well next year maybe nominations should be public ...

However for some parts there will never be even chances i guess.

Tell me the number of people you think could seriously judge on this: Best Code Contributor (non-module)

I for myself certainly can´t. I believe compared to the number of voters there is only a handfull of people who could really judge this. But would expect this to just go down on a "how often people heard the name" basis.

Not ranting ... just speaking my thoughts. Bottomline i still think it´s nice to have contests like this. If you could ever make them fair for everyone is doubtfull just as in real life ...

Oh and ... i think you can´t replace one nominated name with another after a voting has started.
Posted: 2005/1/29 15:45 • Updated: 2005/1/29 15:45
I do agree with you Bender, but keep in mind this is the first time it is organised.

Quote:

That's why I suggested to add Hervé's name to my nomination.

Well... non-module code contributor can both be things implemented in the core such as (just an example) me implementing group membership editing from the edit user form, but hacks are equally valid.
Such hacks could be:
Mercibe's LDAP authentication hack
Wanikoo's PM hack
Marcan's ML hack
bd_csmc's multi-sites
ShortURL's (can't remember who should be credited for this one, sorry, no disrespect intended)

I should think there are plenty more examples

Yep, that's life. Your thoughts are appreciated and noted.

my only comment on this xoopster of the year voting is that: only 64 nominations from so many xoops members is - in my opinion - too few. next time i encourage all of us spend a bit of our time to nominate (i think that a 'small' thing we can return and show our appreciation to the contribution these guys have given to the xoops community).

to all the persons nominated (including herve ) i do believe you guys deserve it. thank you for all your hard works and contribution to xoops community.

ps. i submit several posts in the forum previously, in search of hsalazar, as he seems to be disappear. i'm glad to see his name on the list. where is he? i hope he is going to continue his great work on xoops modules.

I like that a really great prize, the HP IPAQ, is going to the winner of the Community Support category... and that the xoops.org made sure it happened by donating the prize directly.

It is a sign of the emphasis that is placed on providing one of the friendliest and most effective support sites for any CMS. It really sets Xoops apart... (in addition the blazing fast performance and OO code).

I hope everyone who is nominated feels great for all they have done for Xoops... regardless of who wins.

You all have helped to keep this great project going for three years and counting!

Voting is almost over! I'd like to remind all the nominees that the first runner up is a very important position, because if the winner cannot fulfill his or her duties as XOOPSer of the year during the upcoming months, you will be called upon to take over the role.

To those who came so close and those not even nominated, a big thanks to you all. We are all individuals, but together we make xoops the fantastic and successful CMS that others aspire to.
