#1 Posted on: 2007/2/16 16:20 Problems with WF-Links 103c (Resolved)
I have looked through the message here
http://www.xoops.org/modules/newbb/vi ... id=251986#forumpost251986
and have been fighting the exact same issues.

With version 103 I got an error when I clicked on a link.
I upgraded to 103b and got the error where the links did not display in the category but did display when I went to the recent link.

I upgraded to 103c and have the same error. I also removed the remarks from the $summary line with no effect.

Any help in resovling this would be great. I wouldn't object to complete instructions for uninstalling WF-Links and reinstalling with version 103c clean.

WF-Links 103
WF-Links 103b
WF-Links 103c
Xoops 2.0.16

Thanks,
Finchair

Which remarks did you remove?? Did you remove the // in front of these 2 lines? Don't do so.

When you upgraded from 1.03b to 1.03c did you execute the script: wflinks/upgrade/wflinks_1.3b_to_1.3c.php ?

Do you get any errors with PHP Debug on?

Otherwise uninstall your version of WF-Links, remove all files from your server and re-upload WF-Links 1.03b or 1.03c.
Download the version you like to use again, because they have both been updated in the last 24hrs.
Do not use WF-Links 1.03!

WOW.. Your fast

Ok.. The point that I am at now, everything is displaying correctly, but not navigating correctly.

I uninstalled the WF-Links 103c module through xoops, deleted the wf-links directory under the modules directory and manually deleted the X_WR_Resources table from the database.

I reinstalled 103c and set permissions to the images directories. Are there permissions which need to be set under the wf-links modules directory?

I did not modify the index.php on this installation. The links are now displaying ok, however when I click on on of the links the it opens a window with
http://runetracker.com/modules/wflinks/visit.php?cid=1&lid=1
and does not open the site.

Internet Explorer error code states

Line: 33
Char: 2
Error: Object Required
Code: 0
URL: http://runetracker.com/modules/wflinks/visit.php?cid=1&lid=1

Thanks,
Finchair

The url you give should be correct (cid=1 is category nr. 1 and lid=1 is link nr. 1).

Did you set the permissions in WF-Links so visitors are allowed to view categories?
I mean in the admin section: Modules -> WF-Links -> Main Index -> Permissions.

Did you enter the url for the link correctly, does it include 'http://' ?

You only have to chmod the directories in uploads.

Yes, I verified that users have access rights to categories and links and that users have access to the module with exception of the admin area. I verified that my urls have are entred with the 'http://'.

My thought is that there may be permission issues with the php files under the wf-links directory. I believe they are all set as -rw-r--r--. I would have expected them to have an execute permisson also.

Thanks

All files on my server are set to -rw-rw-r-- (CHMOD 664).

Do you get any errors when turning on PHP Debug?

What versions of PHP and MySQL do you have?

MySql 4.0.27
Currently .php files are running PHP4 version 4.3.11.

I have made a change to my sites .htaccess file to have .php files run PHP5 version 5.1.4.

The server cache will take about an hour before it refreshes and I will let you know what happens.

Thanks,

McDonald,
THANK YOU for your feedback and help!!!

A free hosting account was the cause of the problem. The hosting service injects a javascript banner into the top of every page that is generated from content on their server. This injected content was causing a problem with with the redirect that wf-links was trying to execute.

As a test and verification of this I paid for one month of hosting, which removed the ad banner at the top of the page. Presto, Chango.... The redirect worked an no other problems surfaced.

THANK YOU!

FYI, yesterday I updated WF-Links 1.03c.

There is no need anymore for hacking the theme.html file for the meta keywords and the title of the link shows up in the title bar of your browser now.
