I like the navigation ideas, although if it is possible to expand it further .. example - perhaps an external flash file, a javascript based menu...?

(Just thoughts - if they make no sense - blame severe lack of sleep )

I agree with Nazar

One feature implemented in module resolv it too

But this idea is good

Resized Image

About outher files, flash, images, and more, no problem.

page 1 - my summary1
page 2 - my summary2
page 3 - my summary3 -flash files.
page 4 - my summary4
page 5 - my summary5 - image files
page 6 - my summary6 - downloads
page 7 - my summary7
page 8 - my summary8 - docs files
page 9 - my summary9 - etc, etc...

About change pagbreack or pagenav core xoops

No problem too

Change additional parameters sets, not present, execut default and work

For me pagenav bellow

Resized Image

Is optional. If start 3 (parameters), new style pagnav, if no, default pagnav.

Let me say, first, that it is a breath of fresh air to visit XOOPS these days and see the degree of collaboration going on. It is so much friendlier and so much more real work is being done these days as opposed to the - well, frequent viciousness - of the past year or so. Threads like this are encouraging to read.

Second, my hat's off to Bender and Hervet for this discussion and for the possibility of improving xoops. I can't wait to see what it evolves into. I think it will be a great, if subtle, improvement and that it will also add value to search engine placement and usability.

This looks very promising. I'd recommend keeping all three implementations.

[ pagebreak ]
[ pagebreak:pagetitle ]
[ pagebreak:#:pagetitle ]

This ensures backwards compatibility and for sites that prefer a list of pages rather than a drop-down, they still have a choice.

I am hoping that some of these ideas have been put as feature suggestions on Sourceforge - which is the best place for these?

I agree these are very good ideas

One thing tho: the 2.0.16 was the last release in the 2.0.x series, and all core development efforts are focussing on 2.3 from now on. This is announced on sf.net (the core dev discussions) and in the 2.0.16 release news as well.

Consequence of this is that improvements for the 2.0.x core will not be implemented into any official release of that series.

A possible solution would be to focus on geting these great ideas coded into the 2.3 releases as soon as possible (and with that I mean as soon as the 2.3 code allows details such as this to be added).

One thing I like about that solution is that there's an active user-driven collaboration in the 2.3 development.

Downside of this is that it requires everyone to think outside of the 2.0.x/2.2.x box and start thinking in the 2.3 framework, and not many people and developers have given that a serious go (as is shown by the level of collaboration on the alpha releases up till now).

What about selecting a set of user-driven features and improvements, and getting a few people to code them for 2.3? I mean focus the effort and necessary skills and mindset, so as not to make 2.3 weaker because of poor quality coding or flexibility/scalability issues.

Just my 2 cents.

IMHO there is a big difference between "PAGES" and "CHAPTERS"

what you talking about is chapter not page

so XOOPS must have both

- chapter 1: introduction
pages: 1 (2) 3 ... 10
- chapter 2: examples
pages: 1 2 (3) .... 10

so pages can be done by [pagebreak]
and chapters can be done by [chapterbreak:#:chaptertitle]

there is only one module that have something similar and its "article"

On paper, you're right. Why would anyone have a chapter over more then one page on a website?
