Re: problem in moving to another webhosting

Your mainfile.php - what does it say under XOOPS_ROOT_PATH?
/home/dt1214/public_html/web/
or
/home/u2164/domain/binabangsa.net/web/

Looks like it should be the former.

Re: Moving Xoops from a sub-directory to the root

move the contents of the XOOPS folder to the root of the webserver.

Edit the mainfile to reflect the changes in url and root path. That should be all.

After a hectic 2 weeks of development and testing Virtue Park is now open

Virtue Park is an online community aiming to provide users of all kind access to a large database of knowledge in the form of forums, tutorials, articles and downloads.

We also supply Free PHP + MySQL enabled hosting for those people who are in need and that are dedicated by getting 100 points, with no ads.

Also includes various small subsites such as free image hosting (photography only) and a PHP pastebin for users to post their broken code and allow other users to view and make modifications to it.

The site is completely run by the power of XOOPS and offers a range of information on it such as themes, hacks etc.

Free XOOPS hosting accounts are also available on request and the latest version of XOOPS is automatically installed to your account, which saves you having to upload it.

I apprciate your comments and suggestions. Thanks.

oh that good news, for the moment i simple realized it by copying the news modul three times but when wf-sections can handle that, i would be great

so i dont need to extend the userpoints modul and i think in wf-sections its possible that i can make a headline on the startpage with the newest news of each categorie

so every user knows, hey there is a news in the pc and modding section (for example),

and mabye you could help me also by other problems
1. i want do change the registration site, i want that there is a link that opens a new windows, in the window i will write a short manual on how to setup norton firewall, you know the problems with norton firewall

and i want that my user CAN NOT select if they allow me to send them messages, so that option should be always on allow admin/mods to sends messages, i hope that can be realized

2. it is possible to make a real autologin? i have installed a autologin hack but this autologin its no real autologin only by time, so it is possible to make a real autologin?

hopefully you can help me, and thankx for your help so far

if you want you can go to my homepage and can look how i realized it for now, when you want to look depper into my site you can user the username: test and passwort: krobi

Hello fellow XOOPS users,

Can I first of all say a big thank you to all of the people who have helped in developing XOOPS so that numbskulls like me can benefit from it. I’ve spent the best part of the last six months looking at and testing the various CMS on offer – PhpNuke, e107, PostNuke, Mambo etc and I have to say that none of them, in my limited experience, come even close to offering the usability and functionality of Xoops.

However, I do have a problem that I hope some kind soul on here can help me with. I originally installed XOOPS 2.0.5 in a sub directory of the main root – ie, mysite/xoops/ because initially all I wanted to do was test it. But, as time has passed I’ve realised that XOOPS is definitely the system for me and now I would like to move it into the root directory.

Unfortunately – and this is severe lack of planning on my part – I’ve developed the look and feel of the site, installed the modules I require and some content etc and I would really not like to have to start again from scratch.

Can someone point me to any easy way to achieve this move – please? And owing to my limited computer literacy I would need a step-by-step idiots guide.

Hi Catzwolf,

I'm a big fan of WFSections and glad to hear that progress is being made on the latest greatest version.

This may be the wrong place to post this, but I don't have time to root around at the moment so I shall proceed nonetheless. One bit of code I have to tweak on all versions of WFSections I run is the default order by articleid ASC to articleid DESC in this chunk

if (isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['orderby'])) {

$orderby convertorderbyin($HTTP_GET_VARS['orderby']);
} else {

$orderby "articleid DESC";
}

of allarticles.php, as I have lots and lots of articles and most often need to review and correct the most recently posted rather than the old ones gathering dust at the top of the screen. Have you, by any chance, changed that in the new version? If not, couldja please? Or perhaps add a default option to the configuration settings?

Looking forward with bated breath to the release.

All the best,

Bela

Registration Keys!

Hey everyone! If you remember a long while ago I came up with a little registration key hack to weed out certain people from accessing my site. Well, someone brought up the idea to expand it and i've done just that. I've written a complete system module that allows you to create multiple registration keys and link them to specific user groups. When a user registers to your site and gives a specific key, it will look up that key and then register them into the appropriate group or groups assigned to that key. You can also require that all registrants must enter a key, or no key must be entered. This should save on some basic maintenance and a few others things. If you find any errors or bugs, please let me know. I worked very hard and many hours to make sure there are none and that it works flawlessly, but nothing is perfect. I hope you all like it!

You can download it from http://www.jskaterspage.com/regkeys-v1.0.zip

Enjoy!

Hi ! I'm using the multilanguage patch form hsalazar and I would like to make the theme i'm using more multilingual. In order to do that, I need some info from you guys (I just started with php so... no too good...)

Ok, in the theme.html file, there is this line :
<tr><td class="slogan" colspan="2"><{$xoops_slogan}></td></tr>

I need to pass the $xoops_slogan to this :
$myts->makeTboxData4Show($xoops_url);

so it can put the text in the good language.

Now, I don't know where to put it, I don't know what are the links between the theme and XOOPS and php, etc...

Can anybody hekp please ?

Thanks !
