Not without hacking the core unfortunately. Perhaps if you describe the integration senario in a little more detail we can suggest an alternative to removing encryption.

Do you know PHP? Does your other application use a MySQL database?

Is there a way to make it so that the password stored in the database is clear text? I know it's less secure but I need it this way so that I can integrate a XOOPS site with an application that reads usernames and passwords from MySQL but it will not do encryption ... thanks!

Re: Is there a Commerical Version of XOOPS

Jerko,
As was suggested, there are web hosts that offer XOOPS preinstalled. However, if you have (or are getting) a web host that has PHP and MySQL, you should not have trouble installing Xoops. It is one of the easier ones to install.

Tell me which of these steps you are unable to do, maybe we can help:
1. download XOOPS to your computer
2. decompress (unzip) the XOOPS package
3. use FTP to upload the files to your web host
4. create a user account for your MySQL database
5. point your web browser to the XOOPS install page at your site

That's it. However, if that stuff seems complicated, you can find a host that has already done that for you.

I hope that helps.

The wierdest thing is that I have disabled "Allow other users to view my email address" so i'm not sure how this spammer was able to harvest my xoops-only email. (i know it's XOOPS only because it's in the form of xoops.forum@mydomain.com )

When creating the flash file, be sure to set your intended movie size. For example, your typical banner would be 468x60, so set that as your movie size in Flash.

Then when you insert (embed) the code, be sure to set the same parameters in your html. In the case of using XOOPS banner and flash, use the html option and paste your source in the field provided. It may look a little strange in your banner admin, but it will display properly on your XOOPS site where ever you have {xoops_banner}.

Hope this helps.

I created a *.swf to be a banner on the top of my XOOPS site. It would be better to adjust the height and weight of the banner. What shall I do? Thanks!!

I've implemented the registation keys mod, and it's working but on my registration form the label for that field is simply:

_US_REGFKEY

instead of 'Registration Key' or whatever it's supposed to be.

You can see it for yourself here:

http://www.bedfordlions.ca/register.php

I can't find where to fix this. I've looked at the language files, but I'm not seeing where this is supposed to be.

I must admit, I'm still a bit of a newbie...

Any help would be much appreciated.

============================================================
Not it can install module twice.

You can do a Biss (copy) of module and rename the constanst and tables MySQL in the source code of module.

On the other hand, in the portal of DRCLONE there are several modules cloned.
