Re: Can't write in the database anymore

In PhpMyAdmin, you have checked each table individually and there is no errors there? No tables that need repair? Since it is all modules that won't work right with the database, then it would suggest a MySQL error.

Thanks for your continuous help and support!
As soon as the domain has been cancelled i will be able
to buy it from godaddy (yah! i do have the DNS numbers!, two of them) i will enter in the DNS numbers and then continue to purchase my domain using the custom registration, right.
And then when my domain has been resolved to my host, what do i do to install xoops?

hi there,

i asked my host abt their configuration of php.ini file
the value for OPEN_BASEDIR is "." and this is nothing but hell out there, u can understand this. they are using win2k3 server with apache webserver
if u know n e alternative to this plz tell me,

problem with them is they are not creating users, only one user is there and rest are direcotories under that user name. so n e user can access other users directory and thats why they have put this restriction, if each script would had been running under different username and space there would had been no problem but here all the scripts are running under one name, so they cant do n e thing,

i suggested them to put value for this OPEN_BASEDIR as "/physical/path/to/user1/,/pyhiscal/path/to/user2/" and so on, i.e. listing users home directories seperated by "," as value, but they say that it wont work there.

well i also havent tested this thing, so even i am not sure if this works, but i guess this may work.

do u know solution to this problem, of any other idea to play with open directory restriction???
plz let me know i will pass it to them.

regards,
rakesh

I think I misunderstood you SevenD. I am already using your theme. I have the link to the web site under my profile if you want to check it out. I thought you were telling me I had not kept the copyright but I think you were telling me how to download your theme (?). I'm still not sure... Sorry.

Anyway, anyone have any ideas on the poll modification? I would like to display the number of votes and comments on the poll itself. I think it encourages readers to open the poll page to see the results.

Thanks...

Help me with the registration process for godaddy, do you use SMART or CUSTOM registration,

If you have an account with GoDaddy and you want to register the DN under that account then use SMART registration. If however this is your first DN registration with them use CUSTOM so that you have the opportunity to fill in all the contact and billing info.

and what thing do i chooses when it says 'I will be..' the options are to host my domain with them, or to 'Host these domains elsewhere.'
or 'Using one of my FREE options
(Parked Page, For Sale Page'.

If you already know where you will be hosting your site and you know the DNS server settings choose 'Host these domains elsewhere'and enter you DNS info. If you are unsure of the hosting settings leave it on 'park this domain here for free'. When you have a hosting service come back GoDaddy and set up the the DNS info.

Oh and yeh! they stated that you cannot change your DNS
numbers with them if its a .co.uk domain!

I don't know what earthly reason why that would be the case. But is it not possible for you to register a .com instead of .co.uk? I have friends in the uk that use only .com, .net, etc.

Good luck.

Hi,

I had my complete XOOPS system up-and-running, everything was working fine.

But since a few days none of the modules can store data in the database. Only by means of the PhpMyAdmin module I can store/edit data in the database.

My internet provider claims that nothing has been changed and doesn't want to provide any support at all.

I don't understand why the PhpMyAdmin module is working fine and all the other modules doesn't want to store/edit data in the database.

In the error log file of my domain I see the following error message comming by:

PHP Warning: mysql_query(): 1 is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /..../class/database/mysqldatabase.php on line 226

Please help me, any suggestion on how to fix this problem asap is welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Florin

Can someone tell me how to specify the order of blocks in a page area? i.e. - how do I specify the order of the blocks on the right side of the page?

That worked. I temporarily disabled my Norton Firewall (Personal Edition on my home computer) and everything worked fine. Of course, I don't want to leave the firewall disabled. I added my URL to the list of "acceptable" sites and found I had to "Permit" a setting called "Information About Visited Sites" in order to use XOOPs. Thanks for the direction. --George

Thanks for ur help !
