Re: Well, What Now?

You apologize for your attitude and then talk the same way in the same post later. Just read the documentation first and you would see you were wrong.

It's plainly here if you lookhttp://wiki.xoops.org/wakka.php?wakka=InstallGuide

Read under "installing locally" and "installing on hosted platform"

xf_cssbasic download - read the forums there, the theme is given to registered members. You could just ask him for it.

I'm sorry for my attitude, but this is a pain in the neck. I did everything right. the site is up, but I'm wasting all this time because somebody didn't take a second or two to explain things.

For example, the XOOPS folder had three folders in it, but you say the html is the only one I have to upload. Well, Jesus, how was I supposed to know that? Why couldn't someone put one line in the docs saying that? It makes no sense. then you say I should have themes in the default, but I don't. the only theme I have there is the default theme (1) and it's got all the blocks to the left.

You guys should have this crap figured out by now. I was here exactly a year ago and dumped the application for the same reason. And your documentation is still a joke.

yes of course.

I think that for you it is best to look for a simplier application. If you've never done network apps then you have discovered they aren't download/double_click/setup/fiddle_in_menus type of app.

Have you tried the hordes of other CMSs? Many of the same issues more or less depending on what you expect. You could even spend $$ for a commercial/hand_holding CMS.

Bottom line, thousands of XOOPS sites out there. Most spent the time setting it up and don't feel they have wasted their time. So ease up a bit, it works just fine for most.

I really don't want to spend half my life searching for a theme like the one below if it's not available.

Can anyone tell me if there's a theme like this:

Re: Main Menu

Did you try moving it to the top of the code? I created my own main menu through a custom block because I wanted my links to be in a certain order and that was the easiest way. But I do believe the answer to your question may be on the forums somewhere. It's been awhile since I seen it though.

Re: Well, What Now?

I hate to say this but you have an attitude problem, ricland. You are putting down XOOPS without bothering to do any work to make your site better. You seem to expect it to do everything for you by itself but you have to do some of the work. If you don't want to work on creating your site for your own preferences then you should forget about cms's and go back to basic html site creation. XOOPS is new to you and to use it correctly, you have to do research and read documentation, and do your own experimenting. I had to work to get my XOOPS site to look like I wanted it. Everyone does.

And here's yet another example of wasted time:

I just came from this site:
http://www.studiocreativ.net/modules/news/index.php?storytopic=2

At the top of the page the heading reads this:

xf_cssbasic download

Note the word "download." But where is the download? I searched the entire page and tried all the links and there's no download for the theme he speads an entire page talking about.

This XOOPS thing is turning into an enormous waste of time.
