you need to edit xoops_root/language/english/global.php
these lines:
define("_DATESTRING","jS M Y G:i:s");
define("_MEDIUMDATESTRING","d/m/y H:i");
define("_SHORTDATESTRING","j/n/Y");
however this would affect the site globally.. ie even the forum would not show time anymore..
i'm not sure if it can be done through the template, but if you look for anything in the news module files that refers to date as datestring or mediumdatestring, then you could edit the files in the news module to refer to shortdatestring instead as this definition does not include the time..

Turn the debug on to see what errors you are getting.

So would a change like this be best to perform in the newbb module itself? ( i.e. viewtopic.php )
Also, it would seem to get the results that I want, I might need to clear the $xoops_pagetitle because it appears that method concatenates to the existing string.

Thnx mate! Yeah.. I was thinking about using the Sections module if i didn't get any original jokes module.. However the xJokes as per his idea is exactly anyone could ever hope for!..
Got to see how exactly this WF-Sections different from the original sections module..! Perhaps that would help me find another alternative for this..!

I don't see the need for the if statement, though. Crackerboy clearly wants to show banners - and if he didn't, he could just set the block to not be visible in blocks admin
