I agree cleaning all caches, and make sure the database is equal to the one you are importing from..

I'm unsure of the urls in my testing server I use the http aproach (Wamp server)

for instance with my xoops 2.4.4

define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://localhost/244');

THen you'll have to go and make some serious changing in the code. You can't use another startmodule ?

Sometimes the jquery stops working after initiating due to a conflick with other frameworks or includes of jquery..

ou can use firebug consoul -> refresh your page to see if you get any jquery errors. Maybe you need to impliment a jquery.noConflick();

Ok that was a bit clearer.

The profile module you can set up how you like, adding forms / displays of whatever information you'd like (Dont know about the video though) but certainly city, country, area, gender etc is possble to add the profile module simple.

Still id like you to check out the soicalnet module I told about in my previous post.

Another great module is the yoghurt social networking module but I am unsure if this is still being developed or this is progressed into socialnet module.

Sometimes this censoring words is such a bad thing. I understand this is due to spam issues in the past.

How I understand you want something like facebook. I am not sure the idea is impossible but sure will not look intirely like facebook but alternative look is surely possible.

If you use the forum you can make categories reflecting the different countries, branches etc... where users can write if they are members of a specific group. In the beginning these groups area admin, user, anonym but you could make any group you'd like specifying what content each groups are allowed to see, edit, post.

See for instance this for a more social network approach in Xoops

Thread about the socialNet module

All this you ask is possible with xoops, but Xoops is not ready to go with these feautures, you'll need to put in some work but.. Create the groups (group UK, group Ireland etc ect) and tell each group what they can do. Check the demo of socialnet and see if this is something you can use, and it would be possible I think.

This is pretty bad service from your host. Almost definitely this is an error from webserver software. Error 500 in 99% cases are.

If this could help, if you have a local server where the install works without problems, check that phpinfo.php against the one on your host to see if any major differences.

We had this problem in xoopsnordic a few years ago. I couldn't keep connected in the site but found if I choose a different theme than the default at the page everything was fine.

I dont know exactely why, but we tryed everything from changing session name (custom sessions) to clearing caches and checking for javascript errors, but solution in the end was that my browser (FF) apparently didnt like the new theme there.

It's the css in your theme. This css basicly overwrites the core css and changing the atributes you decide.

Most themes uses a copy of the core css with different values.

See this as an example

In this you can in main menu choose the different areas to see what they do and look like.
