Tiny bump. Can anyone tell me what happens to cloned templates when you press 'update'?

There's an issue detecting a user's real IP from their NTL cable proxy server address. Some more info in this thread.

I recently downloaded a patch for CBB to go from 1.13 to 1.14. I replaced the PHP files with the new versions but am not sure whether to press the 'update' button against the module in XOOPS admin (never done this before).

The reason I am unsure is that I have cloned the default template set and made some changes to the cloned templates for CBB which I don't want to lose.

I don't know if updating a module resets the templates from disc, but if it does, how do I update a module and keep my modified templates intact?

Is the syntax to ban IP addresses in XOOPS Protector 2.40 RC2 the same as for XOOPS prefs?, eg:
^aaa.bbb.ccc|aaa.bbb.ccc$

Also, do I enter banned IPs just in Protector, in prefs, or in both?

If you leave the whole article in the 'scoop' field it will appear on the main news page complete. If you transfer the article to the 'extended text' field, you can use the 'scoop' field to write a summary of the article. The scoop text will appear on the news page with a 'read more...' link, which leads to the article (the extended text).

I think the principal is that staff authors (who you would for example put in a 'Staff' user group) would have permissions to approve their own articles and would also know how to write a decent 'scoop' summary, so both fields are available.

Other registered users are required to submit articles in the one field because in that case the webmaster would normally edit the article before publication. It is then the webmaster's decision whether to leave it all in the scoop field, or split it.

By default, the scoop text also appears at the head of the article, however, you'll find a small hack
in this thread that hides it in the article itself.

Thx samuels. It's a great editor, but this will be a problem for users who need their code to be 'verbatim'.

Plus, unless Koivi is also the name of a toilet cleaner somewhere in the world can we have the name back?. XK Editor Class just doesn't have the same ring to it. At present, no-one will find Koivi if they search at dev.xoops.org. I had to post a request in this forum to track it down.

I just tried adding my test script (I was using a JavaScript weight calculator) to another CMS which uses HTMLArea and it worked a treat, simply by pasting the script into the HTML box of the WYSIWYG editor.

I opted for Koivi because it is the only editor that integrates the XOOPS image manager. The fact that it tidies up a users HTML is actually quite a nice feature, but there are obviously drawbacks.

If you, or your users are likely to want to add scripts, it looks like HTMLArea for XOOPS might be a better choice. I am going to take a look at it myself over the next few days as an option.

Yup. You're right. It won't work. The code is saved, but Koivi blends it into one long line, which with a JavaScript will often break it.

JavaScripts do seem to execute. I tried
<script language="JavaScript">
document.write ("Hello World");
</
script>

and that worked. But that's not a lot of use to anyone really!

You can't appear to manually force line breaks using XOOPS code or by encapsulating the script in 'code' or 'pre' text tag either. I couldn't add a link to an external js file either.

Not good. Although I confess I have never tried this with SPAW or HTMLArea either. Maybe scripts and WYSIWYG editors just don't mix?

Sorry your'e still having problems. At least Koivi is now saving the javascript (it looks intact?). However, I confess I haven't tried to see if a script actually executes. I'm off to do that now!
