Looks cool! A nice enhancement on the original.

I would submit it if everything works (as far as you know). I would however explain in the notes alongside the module download that you cannot provide support.

I have suggested in the past that modules should be categorised based on whether or not the developer is able to provide support. As long as I know *in advance* that I need to fix any issues myself, I don't have a problem with unsupported modules.

I'm afraid I don't know the procedure for submitting a module. It should be in the FAQ?

I agree. XOOPS certainly needs a dating module that works.

I *think* if the module is no longer supported, you can submit your 'improved' version as a new module, (e.g. EMS Friendfinder) provided you give some credits to the original developer?.

I confess I would be interested to know what the 'official' protocol is for fixing a buggy module and re-releasing it?

UD Dating may be just what you need, but take note of the comment about it being encoded. As an alternative, you could try Friendfinder. Download the 'fixed' version from the link in the comment. It is very basic and still has a few glitches, but it seemed to work. There's some info in this thread.

It beats me why someone hasn't created a user-friendly plain text editor by now. I use vBulletin, IPB and phpBB and as JMorris point out, they are all very similar. I have never found one yet that will insert a smily or a link at the cursor position, or allow you to highlight text and embolden it.

If you want to try the Koivi WYSIWYG editor, I believe you can configure it to display a 'reduced' button-set menubar to deliberately limit the formatting options.

I haven't tried it, but there are some details in this thread.

I have to agree the XOOPS 'DHTML' editor formatting controls always baffled me. I believe it may be revised for a later version of Xoops.

The Koivi (a.k.a XK_Editor Class) WYSIWYG editor can be used for the NewBB or CBB forum and (according to a post in this thread) it can be configured to display a minimal formatting menubar to restrict formatting controls to just bold, italic etc.

I confess I haven't tried it.

I am guessing that the 'add a file' button at the foot of each article should be hidden from users who do not have permissions to use it. Unfortunately at present, the button - a right pointing arrow - is visible to everyone.

People naturally think it leads to the next article, but of course they get a 'forbidden' error message when they click on it.

I have searched through the templates but cannot pin down how to hide it (from everyone if necessary).

Any help would be appreciated.

The docs also mention altering the redirect_header function in include/functions.php, but it refers to the line
<body onload="void(location.href=".$url.'');">
and I couldn't find anything remotely like that in that function (I'm using XOOPS 2.0.10).

The only other thing related to redirects I can see in the readme is to empty the browser cache, is that what you are referring to?

Apparently there is a Koivi/Firefox issue with redirects. In the latest Koivi distro, there's a fix in the docs. In XOOPS admin, open templates. Edit the system template called 'system_redirect.html' and change:

<body>

to:

<body onload="void(location.href='<{$url}>');">

Worked for me!

I installed MyAlbum-P on XOOPS 2.0.7.3 and it all seems to work, although it's appearance is (IMHO) a little cluttered with icons. Could be customised I'm sure by tweaking a template here and there. It supports posting permissions and has some blocks for random pics etc. The dev site is alive and kicking although I haven't asked for any support yet.

The big plus with XcGallery was eCards, but as gediminasbyt points out, it is no longer supported. If you decide to risk trying it, this tiny hack *may* get your scrolling thumbnails centred in the block, depending on which theme you use!
