Meta
meta is a commonly used prefix in the English language used to indicate a concept which is an abstraction from another concept. Metatags, Metalanguage, metaphysics and metacognition are examples of this.In terms of our xoops sites it is often used in reference to tags or Metatags. The two most common uses of meta tags on the Web are to provide a description and to provide meta keywords for a web page. This data may then be used by search engines (such as Google) to generate and display a list of search results matching a given query.Further information from WikipediaIn the early 2000s, search engines have veered away from reliance on meta tags since many web sites used inappropriate meta keywords or a technique known as keyword stuffing, in order to increase their search engine ranking. Many search engines, however, still take meta tags into consideration when delivering results. Currently, Google does not use meta tags to index web sites. Techniques have also been developed in order to penalize web sites considered to be cheating the system. For example, a web site repeating the same meta keyword several times may have its ranking decreased by a search engine trying to eliminate this practice

Module
A module is an essential part of any Xoops website. Modules are like building blocks that allow each user to choose how to build and design the structure, content, and style of their website. All Xoops sites are installed with one essential and sophisticated module, the System module. Other modules are usually built to work in conjunction with the Xoops system module and other core functions. For example a fully featured Xoops module can inherit all of the visual style of the website and therefore look completely integrated with the other site pages. It can also inherit other global functions from the system module. (Features such as access for selected groups, selected permissions for posting and viewing, comments system, user details display, logging activity and many other interactive features,) The module you select are all tied together seamlessly so that your Xoops website looks and functions as one fully inter-related unit. Furthermore it is easy to manage each module from the websites system administration pages. There are modules for a full range of content processing, including article management, news posting, news listing, reviews, e-commerce, book lists and displays, photographic and image displays, albums, time management, helpdesk, weather displays, banner management, advertising, directories, dictionaries, and many many more subjects. For a more comprehensive range of options take a look at the Module repository to see all the categories and possibilities. Module writers are constantly developing new modules and improving existing ones so be sure take the time to do some research for just the right module for you. undefined
